Approaching the hotel, we became sceptical as to whether booking here had been a good choice: not far from a main road, the building from the outside looked rather ugly and uninviting. Luckily, things changed drastically upon entering the lobby: spacious, climatised and modern, we were immediately welcomed by the very friendly and fluently English-speaking staff.
We had booked the Executive Suite for a very fair price. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious with a modern bathroom. It included basic toiletries, daily room service, tea/coffee making facilities, a safe, a bottle of free mineral water and a mini bar. Two TVs were provided, one opposite the bed, the other in the living area.
The only downside was that there was absolutely no view out of the window, which opened into a narrow courtyard. Noise was not an issue, although we did keep the windows closed for the most part due to the air conditioning.
We didn't try the breakfast, but we did try out the coffee in the lobby, and it was pretty tasty!
The hotel is very conveniently situated, getting to the Bund and to East Nanjing Road (+ Metro) takes roughly 10 mins by foot, and there are many shops and restaurants nearby.
I can honestly recommend this hotel: friendly and professional staff, clean and well-equipped rooms, a fantastic location - in short, an ideal 'base' to explore Shanghai from!
