Malolo island resort is paradise. We spent five nights here and honestly could not fault it.
The setting itself is magical and peaceful. We loved the fact we never felt crowded unlike the other two resorts we stayed at. Rooms were beautiful and spacious and the housekeeping was always perfect. The food was delicious, we could have eaten the green curry spring rolls everyday (in fact maybe we did). Treetops food was delicious. Kids club was lovely and the babysitters were amazing with the kids.
The real gem of this resort though is all the staff. They were all honestly so warm and welcoming, and are the reason this place feels so wonderful. They take the time to talk to you and get to know the kids. The kids felt so sad saying goodbye.
The perfect place for a relaxed getaway. Malolo is such a special place.

Let me start off by saying that the resort is very beautiful in terms of aesthetics.

I came here for a day trip on Mother's Day and was absolutely blown away by two things.

This resort has its own little jetty which boats used to use before for docking, but now the boat docks in the middle of the island and resorts come in tender boats to collect their guests from the big boat.

The moment I got on the tender boat I was greeted with a "Bula, welcome home" I was pleasantly surprised by this.

We then went off to their little jetty where we got off and were greeted by singing staff and shell necklaces.

We were ushered to a waiting area which already had cold towels and a welcome drink waiting for us.

So their mentality with day cruise guests is to be so good that they come back and book a few nights with them.

They make this very clear as well but saying "we hope you enjoy your day and that you will return here to stay couple of nights next time."

The real jewel here are the friendly staff who go out of their way for travellers/guests. They are always smiling and nothing is too much of a hassle for them. They make every effort to make the time you spend there as memorable as possible.

Every staff here are well groomed and trained, they take a lot of pride in the work they do.

The resort grounds are really beautiful with great gardens and the central area is quite minimalistic yet sophisticated. Day beds have a fan, light and a charging port!

Now the real gem of this resort, the snorkelling! In most Mamanuca resorts I have been to I have had to swim out quite far in order to catch a few fish, not here.

You don't need to swim out far as the deep passage is only few meters away and here I saw a beautiful variety of sea life, from baby stingrays to jellyfish, parrot fish, sea cucumber and many other big healthy colourful fish. In addition to this, the fact that the big South Sea Cruises Boat no longer operates to their jetty has restored much of their corals so you see quite a lot of colour corals.

The healthy Marine Life here won me.

Other than that the food here was wonderful, the best I have eaten at an Island Resort.

All in all, fantastic day out and cannot wait to return here for a night or two .

Spent a wonderfully relaxing 5 nights here. Friendly staff. Very comfortable, spotlessly clean Bure right on on the beach. Loved the fact that it’s a small resort and never felt crowded. Had some excellent food. Very glad we decided not to do the meal plan because we would never have eaten enough to get our money’s worth! Homemade ice cream was a highlight. Amazing snorkelling straight off the beach. We also did a couple of trips to the outer reefs and were the only people each time so had a personal guide. Coral and fish were spectacular! It was nice to stay somewhere with small island feel rather than glitzy international resort.

We stopped at this island while out and about on a launch. We stopped here for lunch 10 adults and 1 child. We were welcomed and escorted to the Restaurant (we called ahead and booked a table) where friendly staff saw us seated and then drinks orders were taken. We placed our meal orders and the kids menu offered an excellent range. On the adults menu you could also create your own toastie, sandwich or salad. Food arrived promptly and pretty much altogether. We all enjoyed our food and left with happy tummies.

A delayed review but not forgotten! We have travelled many times to Fiji having stayed at Jean-Michel Cousteau, Inter-Continental Fiji and Musket Cove at nearby Malolo Lai-Lai Island (awful), and Malolo Island Resort was our favourite. It ticked all the boxes for us, and we preferred it over JMC noting ease of travel and more cost effective yet still a high standard of resort. We stayed in Bure 9 which was the perfect location for us- close to the beach bar for sunset drinks and close to the water. Special mention regarding the food which was exceptional.

Room tip: All bures are great, not far from the water.
