A late lunch at Captain D’s proved to be a good idea. A little after 1, I saw no cars in the drive up line. The man at the speaker acted quickly and was easy to understand. I got the total and drove to the window. There was a wait as the food is prepared to order.
A very nice lady came to window, took my payment and asked about condiments. The same man as was on the speaker brought my order. He told me to have a nice day but did not say what was in the bag.
Went I got to a nearby area to have my lunch, I found the condiments I requested and the container of food. Too bad there were no napkins or eating utensils. Thankfully I had napkins and a spoon in my vehicle.
The fish tenders were excellent. They were hot, crisp and well-seasoned. Hush puppies were as fresh as the fish. The slaw was dry as is typical but a little ranch dressing handled that just fine. It had a pleasing texture and was not mushy. The fries were likely not prepared to order. They were tough and not so good. All in all the lunch was OK fast food that fresh fries would have greatly improved.
Captain D’s offers various $5 meals that are usually consistent and provide lots of food for the price. Step outside that formula and the cost goes up quickly.
This location provides a friendlier approach to food delivery than most. It is clean and well-maintained. Don’t expect more than quick serve fare.
