My family and I visited Mobile Carnival Museum on our 6 day trip to Mobile. The museum is Closed on Tuesday & Sundays. The admission for Adults $5.00, Children(0-12) $2.00. The museum is wheelchair accessible on 2 of the 3 floors. Parking onsite is FREE. It takes about 1 hour to tour the museum. Cameras are allowed in the museum. The Moda! shuttle does stop near by. We stayed at the Holiday Inn and it was next door to the hotel. The staff was super friendly. The lady in the gift shop told us all about the build and how it used to be a funeral home.

We weren't sure what to expect, but were happily blown away with the museum and esp the docent. Our first time in the area and really embraced the history and atmosphere

If all you know about Mardi Gras are beads, beers and belligerence, then this is a MUST DO. It will blow your mind what is really going on with Mardi Gras. Your entire perception of Southern culture will change with a tour through this place.

Mobilians are very proud of being the founders of Mardi Gras and this is definitely on show here. Our guide, Paula, made the experience one of a kind and gave us the inside scoop since her mother and sister were past queens and son was a past king. She showed us the many many ornate trains and explained how they were unique to each king or queen with design, velvets, and gems. You can really see this city’s culture and pride through this museum. Overall an informative, inexpensive(only $4 for adults with a AAA membership) way to spend about an hour.

While in Mobile, AL we stopped by the Carnival Museum which housed the Mobile Madi Gras' King and Queen costumes over 100 years. What's even more impressive than the costumes and history of the madi gras was the mansion that it's housed in. This place had to have been something back in the early 1800's as it is magnificiant today.
