Situated in an old house directly across from University of South Alabama on Old Shell Road, Via Emilia is well located in West Mobile. With a Blackboard menu listing the daily specials, the food is predominately Italian recipes served in the north of Italy. Delicious meals such as Veal Rcatta and Lasagna . Excellent for a couple or groups no more than eight people, The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, but unless you are truly fond of the warm weather. I would suggest avoiding outside dining until early spring or late fall. All in all a wonderful place with excellent food.

The atmosphere was oh so nice. There were 4 in our party. 3 of us had the Shrimp and scallops over pasta. The other had the eggplant parmesan. Our food was absolutely the best. Our server, Bruce was very attentive and on the spot. We all had a wonder dinner.

Wow we had heard Via Emillia was good but had to find out for ourselves. It was a hidden jewel near the campus of South Alabama. The food is incredible . The bread is for sure a plus. The pasta dishes were great as well as the fish specials. I would definitely recommend Via Emillia when in mobile.

First of all, if you are fortunate enough to get a table in this small converted house make sure that you don't allow too short of a time to spend on brunch. Both times I went we were some of the first people in the restaurant and our meal took an hour and a half from start to finish. We made an allotment for that on our second visit. The specials change depending on what is available locally but all of them are good. The place fills up rapidly with happy groups and gets quite lively by noon. Arrive early for a seat.

We went for brunch at 12 on Sunday and it was spectacular. I got the crepe and substituted the scallops for shrimp. It was huge and was served with grits and fruit. My family got the eggs Benedict and it was awesome too. All in generous portions. I would call ahead for reservations since it's small. A must go if you love cozy places with great food.
