“Peaceful vibe!”
Review of Kaya Kaya Cafe

Kaya Kaya Cafe
Ranked #20 of 813 Restaurants in Melaka
Certificate of Excellence
Cuisines: American, Fusion
Description: The name of Kaya-kaya Cafe comes from a local spread known as “kaya”. It is generally rich in flavor and thick in texture. As such, our menu is created using the two keywords – richness and thickness. Our key vision is to promote more local specialties to foreigners. We elaborately design our fusion menu using our own local ingredients, such as salted egg chicken and sambal prawn, to serve with pasta. We serve food with kaya as well. Unlike the usual kaya that can be found everywhere, our kaya is especially homemade with duck eggs and Malacca sugar. One of the signature dishes that are served with kaya is “Malacca Elvis”; a pancake stack with sliced banana and kaya sandwiched in between, drizzled with homemade chocolate and peanut butter sauce. We also serve traditional dishes like “Yin Yong Toast” with kaya and butter and “Kaya Cheese Toast”.

On a side street right off Jonker, there are many cafes, restaurants and coffee shops. Kaya is just one of many, and we stopped in because the ambiance looked inviting -- and it wasn't crowded/noisy. The service was friendly, the coffee reasonably priced and tasty. The tea was O.K., but reasonably priced. Maybe have some baked goods that we can check out? Ultimately, we felt relaxed while we were there, and were glad that we stopped in.

Very cosy, good pace to relax but it was too pricey. Almost everything was above rm20 even for toast. Ala carte items avail too. Not vegetarian friendly. Not wheelchair friendly. There are baby high chairs avail. Staff forgot one of our order. So waited quite sometime. Wont recommend this for breakfast.
