My family (6 pax) booked 3 rooms and stayed for 5 nights in December 2017. We returned to this hotel (last stayed in May 2017) because of its strategic locations, right next to a few huge shopping malls and plenty of cafe and restaurants, all within 5 minutes walk. You can also take a 10minutes walk to the Dutch Square (meusem, Church, Melaka river side, etc.) and Jonker Walk (the old town) where there were historical shophouses, souvenirs shops, cafes and restaurants, etc.

This hotel is popular and because it is also in December holidays season, so we have to wait longer for lifts, longer queue to have breakfast (very comprehensive with lots of varieties) daily, etc. But the rooms are big and clean with basic amenities, staff are friendly, and we have tried the body & facial massages at Wellness Centre, it was good. We are please to recommend this hotel to those who wish to visit this beautiful city of Malacca.

Stayed: November 2017, travelled with family

Large hotel, and almost impossible to find the way out unless you come & go via the main door, which you do not due to traffic at street level and the fact that if you are going down to the river its a long way round particularly when its a hot day.
Breakfast is a mass dive in! No subtle dining. Pool closed when its raining. Check in was a real pain and tool almost 45 min.
Rooms good size. Lifts poor. Location good.

We came from KL and reached the hotel around 2pm but still the room was not released to us because they said the official check in time is 3pm, a bit inflexible but reasonable may be due to the high volume of guests checking out. We were asked to come back after 3pm and was told no need to queue again, just get the key tag from any conceige or staffs when back. This is a plus point.

The hotel is so conveniently located, near to various shopping malls, the Mahkota mall, Hatten Square(same building attached to it) as well as the huge Pahlawan Mall.
The hotel room is spacious, with separate lounge area and separate tv in the lounge area, so that one can watch tv there without disturbing the partner in the bedroom. Basic amenities is supplied in the bathroom except no small towels.

Swimming pool was busy, as it was new year eve, there was a countdown event on the skybar but we did not participate so no comment. Breakfast was at the ballroom instead of hotel restaurant as the restaurant was full at that time so guests were directed to dine in the ballroom, additional buffet counters were set up outside the ballroom. Food is okay with many varieties.

Only thing made us frustrated was the lift. There were 8 lifts in total and still we have to wait for a long time to get an empty one. They were slow and were always pack with people.

Overall the hotel is great for one or two night stay in Melaka, but there are also many other new hotels in Melaka that you can try such as Novotel, the shore, swiss garden etc, but of cos Hatten hotel has the best location among them if one do not want to drive out to other places due to heavy jam in the area. You can go shopping just around the hotel.

Strategic location.
Best breakfast buffet ever.
Friendly staff all around.
Nice smell.
Flexible check-out. Let us check out at 1pm.
Good swimming pool, though very cold due to strong wind.
Room floor still have hair from previous previous occupants. Kinda scary.
Our 1st choice due to good location and it's best hotel breakfast buffet. My wife had 4 croissants!!!.
Salted egg for porridge rather dated this morning.
A tourist broke some plates. Staff should have cordoned off the are for cleaning.
Mainland tourists can be more mindful of their behaviour.
Lift security rather lapsed this time compares to our previous visit. Everyone can access to any floor without inserting key card for their own floor only.

Only the location is good. Rooms are huge though.

The lifts in this hotel is really really bad!

Service in the sky lounge is almost non existent.....

Breakfast will spoil the start of the day with long Q for hot station!
