My Company held a Family day at the Hatten hotel in Aug 2012 and we occupied approx 30 rooms. Here's a list of things that went wrong during our stay.

- The hotel seems to be under-staffed and the staffs are poorly trained. The front desk took a long time to check in our group. A number of my colleagues were given incorrect room or key cards that didn't work. They had to make a couple of trips to the front desk to sort things out.

- A number of my colleague had their children with them and needed assistance with their luggage. However, there were zero hotel porter in sight. They must be either overwhelmed or are hiding somewhere.

- The bed in the my hotel room smell really bad. I made a complaint with the front desk and the hotel did absolutely nothing to address the issue. I had to call the front desk to demand a change of room.

- One of my female colleague had to call the house keeping repeatedly to send someone to pick up her laundry. When the hotel staff finally arrive, she had the shock of her life as the Male Hotel Staff simply use his access card to enter her room without ringing the door bell or knocking on the door. Her teenage daughter was half-naked in the room ...... and the Hotel's Director had a hard time explaining the actions of their staff.

- A large number of my colleagues (inc myself) complaint that the hotel did not replace the towels in our bathroom after cleaning our room (zero towels in the bathroom). Cups in some of the room were not washed. Rubbish bin not emptied. Shampoo, shower foam were not replaced.

- Hotel's housekeeping was not responsive and was impossible to reach after 10pm. The staffs had to make repeated trips to fulfill our request. e.g. when we ask them to send us the missing bath towels in our room, the staff had to make 2 trips, sending us 1 towel each time.

- Wireless connectivity is only available on a very limited number of floors.

Room Tip: You should really skip this hotel ....

We stayed with 2 smallkids over the weekend. First of all,the breakfast buffet was excellent. The hotel lobby is small and under rates the whole hotel experience but as we got to our rooms, we were so relieved. It is located in the town centre and surrounded by shopping malls (may not be suitable for those who want a quiet retreat) It is a walk away from some of the major attractions in Malacca. The negative points would be the small, unfriendly lobby areaand slow check in, plus the room we stayed in had a teriible view. New hotel, very clean. Overall, recomended.

Hotel location is fantastic near.3 mega malls. Overall design is modern. The restaurant design is spacious and bright, buffet breakfast variety is not bad from western to local Chinese and indian. Swimming pool is nice there is a kid pool too. Stayed at superior room, the room design is fantastic. I think the car park lots is not enough to accommodate the among of cars coming in during the weekend especially if the hatten square is fully open for business. And is already kind of jam now. They also should look into the reception service check in and out is but slow only 2 counters is operating during the pick hours of check in. Some customers are also complained that their rooms is not ready there had been waited for an hour luckily our room is ready when we check in. But overall is still great hotel to stay at.

Tour bus could not find the hotel!! Hotel is too new even for the bus driver.. ;P
Check in was rather slow. No welcome drink.. ;(
No complaint about room with 2 tvs!! Great bed.
Buffet breakfast was just as good!! Must try it's muffins! Too bad it was not for sale!
Swimming pool(s) was not ready. Not much of a view from room, except for the pool(s)..
Good location, walking distance to many eateries & shopping..
Don't mind coming back.

Everything is bad from the service, room, facilities, except the acceptable breakfast. It's not even a 3 stars but claimed as four star with a five star price. What a shame on the beautiful malacca town.
