The Sterling is a very quite, peaceful and clean place. Very friendly staff, Close to Jonker Street and Red Square, just 5 minutes walk to most of the attractions in red square such as, Studthys, The Church etc.,

Good for travelers that like to explore Jonker Street, within 5 minutes walk to Red Heritage buildings. One can return to enjoy cool showers anytime with innovative shower facilities.

Room is overall clean. Breakfast at the Loft was greeted by friendly staff.

I would say this is one of the best hotels for the price we paid. We stayed in a Junior Suite with Jacuzzi. The room was very spacious and most suitable for a family. The beds were firm and comfortable and linens were spotless. We had a real good time relaxing in the Jacuzzi after hours of exploration of the heritage city under the burning sun!

The hotel was conveniently located, in the vicinity of most of the tourists' attractions. Walking to Jonker Street took us about 10 minutes. The famous Capitol Satay was just diagonally across the road.

The staff at the reception were courteous and well-trained. The air-cond in our room was initially not functioning property and the room was hot and stuffy. After informing the front desk, a young man came to our room to reset it and within minutes, it was nice and cool after that. Very efficient staff!

I would strongly recommend The Sterling to those who wish to stay in Melaka city centre.

Our family of 4 stayed 1 night in their Deluxe Family Suite. It is very spacious and even has a jacuzzi. The hotel is housed in a pretty colonial building but inside is very modern.

PROS:
- Very spacious rooms at very reasonable rates
- Nice decor and romantic colonial setting
- A block away from the Historical District and Jonker Street
- Parking is plentiful if you're bringing a car
- Breakfast buffet, though limited in choices, is delicious
- Very near Capitol Satay and a few Indian restaurants
- Quick and efficient check in and check out
- Helpful staff

CONS:
- WiFi is unreliable
- Very few TV channels
- Aside from Capitol Satay and a few convenience stores, the area is pretty much dead.
- Portions of the lobby are quite dark, but it's no problem for us since we camped there after check-out and took a nice nap while waiting for our shuttle out of Melaka.

It's around 5km away from Melaka Sentral, so be prepared to shell out 15 to 20 MYR for taxi fare. Taxis in Melaka have no meter and charge a flat rate of 15 to 20 MYR to go anywhere within the city. You can choose to find a bus service that goes to Hatten Hotel and walk for 15 mins to the hotel. Good thing you can cross via Dataran Pahlawan to escape the heat.

Staff was very helpful and friendly.

Pro - Location is good. Short walk to Jonker street. Car park is aplenty and is quite safe. Room was decent size and bed is comfortable.

Con - Make up room timing is a bit odd which starts at 3 pm. When we are back from late afternoon the room was not made. They should have make up room perhaps latest 12 pm when most of the guest gone out for lunch.

Room Tip: Shower taps need some trial end error as they are a bit complex to turn on..
