Me and my partner were informed by a friend who had stayed at this hotel on several occassions, that this hotel was 'basic' but 'clean'
Firstly, we could only half open the door to our room and had to enter sideways to get in. (I'm a size 8.) and still struggled.
The room was very basic, 2 single beds, a wardrobe and a fridge. With shower/toilet.
The mattresses and pillows were disgusting, stained with filth and god knows what else.
The fridge was covered both inside and out with thick black slimy mould.
The toilet was covered in dirt, sand and faeces, the sink not much better.
The room was over-run with cockroaches and ants and worms in the shower!
The general decor was dirty walls, with what looked like human blood stains, and squashed mozzies.
The tiles in the shower were broken and where they'd come loose we found this is where the cockroaches came out from.
There were 2 electric sockets in our room and both were dangerous, When trying to plug something in they would spark and the adaptors would just fall out.
There was a resident big black rat that would saunter from the hotel kitchen, (presumably after having his fill) and walk across the grounds.
The hotel bar which is situated outside opposite the pool, is filthy and crawling with ants.
The pool has lots of chipped tiles, no anti-slip around the edge and the rungs on the ladders are rounded so you can't get a foot hold to get out without it hurting your feet, unless you've got feet like a monkeys hands.
The pool is 3.5 at the shallow end and almost 9ft deep at the other. No good for kids, There is no lifeguard and no life belts available.
There are 8 sun beds available, but no parasols.
On a positive note, we found the bed linen (top and bottom sheet and 1 pillow case) changed daily along with the towels they provide.
There's a guy on site doing massage, head, body etc.
There's also a guy in the foyer selling leather goods. He wanted £68 for a leather bag! I told him to shove it. His excuse was that hide has gone up in price and there aren't alot of uk visitors. I bought a Radley and a Mulberry bag from another shop for £16 each.
Outside the hotel the streets are littered with rubbish and the Indians like to snort the contents of their nose back up into their head and fleg it out right in front of you.
Even the hotel staff do this.
I wasn't expecting luxury on this holiday and i certainly didn't get it. I think the whole place is disgusting and filthly and the Indians are greedy and too many beggars.
Talking to seasoned travellers, they have all said that South Goa is much better and that the North has certainly gone down hill the last few years.
i won't be returning. Been there, done that, didn't buy the tee-shirt.
My advice would be, don't even think about visiting this dump. Get your flip-flops on next summer and go for a day out on your local landfill site instead.
Overall, taking into consideration the cost of the holiday, along with the extra costs and the ball ache for the visas, the extra photos, the malaria tablets, and the long flight, i'd say you'd be better off going to Dominican or singapore, where you know it's clean, good food, warm weather and no hassle.
