“Awful”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2011

Me and my partner were informed by a friend who had stayed at this hotel on several occassions, that this hotel was 'basic' but 'clean'
Firstly, we could only half open the door to our room and had to enter sideways to get in. (I'm a size 8.) and still struggled.
The room was very basic, 2 single beds, a wardrobe and a fridge. With shower/toilet.
The mattresses and pillows were disgusting, stained with filth and god knows what else.
The fridge was covered both inside and out with thick black slimy mould.
The toilet was covered in dirt, sand and faeces, the sink not much better.
The room was over-run with cockroaches and ants and worms in the shower!
The general decor was dirty walls, with what looked like human blood stains, and squashed mozzies.
The tiles in the shower were broken and where they'd come loose we found this is where the cockroaches came out from.
There were 2 electric sockets in our room and both were dangerous, When trying to plug something in they would spark and the adaptors would just fall out.
There was a resident big black rat that would saunter from the hotel kitchen, (presumably after having his fill) and walk across the grounds.
The hotel bar which is situated outside opposite the pool, is filthy and crawling with ants.
The pool has lots of chipped tiles, no anti-slip around the edge and the rungs on the ladders are rounded so you can't get a foot hold to get out without it hurting your feet, unless you've got feet like a monkeys hands.
The pool is 3.5 at the shallow end and almost 9ft deep at the other. No good for kids, There is no lifeguard and no life belts available.
There are 8 sun beds available, but no parasols.
On a positive note, we found the bed linen (top and bottom sheet and 1 pillow case) changed daily along with the towels they provide.
There's a guy on site doing massage, head, body etc.
There's also a guy in the foyer selling leather goods. He wanted £68 for a leather bag! I told him to shove it. His excuse was that hide has gone up in price and there aren't alot of uk visitors. I bought a Radley and a Mulberry bag from another shop for £16 each.
Outside the hotel the streets are littered with rubbish and the Indians like to snort the contents of their nose back up into their head and fleg it out right in front of you.
Even the hotel staff do this.
I wasn't expecting luxury on this holiday and i certainly didn't get it. I think the whole place is disgusting and filthly and the Indians are greedy and too many beggars.
Talking to seasoned travellers, they have all said that South Goa is much better and that the North has certainly gone down hill the last few years.
i won't be returning. Been there, done that, didn't buy the tee-shirt.
My advice would be, don't even think about visiting this dump. Get your flip-flops on next summer and go for a day out on your local landfill site instead.
Overall, taking into consideration the cost of the holiday, along with the extra costs and the ball ache for the visas, the extra photos, the malaria tablets, and the long flight, i'd say you'd be better off going to Dominican or singapore, where you know it's clean, good food, warm weather and no hassle.

we stayed here 2 wks rooms cleaned everyday if you want them but beds rockhard they could do with better mattress's also you have to pay extra for tv about 900rupee's a week a/c £23 a wk but saying all that the hotel could do with a lick of paint as its looking a bit old but the pool was lovely the hotel food was very good and the cheapest we had all holiday when going out for a walk you have to be careful as there are more mopeds about and they have no roadsense so at night can be dangerous also when at the hotel try a massage from ramu he is brilliant made the pain in my back from the beds disappear and his prices start at £5-£9 and are well worth it

the staff are always friendly and helpful
word to the wise the beaches are lovely but it does get overcrowded especially up near the calangute steps and this is quite dirty area due to the russians are ignorant and have no respect for other peoples way of life
i would not suggest going to goa if you are physically impaired can be a bit dangerous especially crossing the road

Well, What can I say, this was not our first time to Goa and as I have walking difficulties I researched the location of the Hotel very carefully and was happy when Google maps show it down in Baga at the bottom of CSM Road and as the brochure description said “100 metres from the beach”.
The flght was fine and we arrived at the airport, got a taxi and asked him to take us to Baga, once there we could not find the “Resorte de Tio Carmino” , we asked a local tuc tuc driver who told us it was on Fort Aguada Road … about 3 k away !!!!

When we finally arrived we were very disappointed even before we set foot inside and was not sure what was to follow. I will not bore you with all the details but to summarise … the place is dated and not looked after, paint slopped all over the windows, doors and floors etc, furniture that is dirty and falling in bits, dirty room and shower, no kettle etc, air con and TV are 300 rupees a day extra and no mini bar in the fridge …. I could go on and on.

Breakfast comprises of tea or coffee and toast …. Yep that’s it …. Anything else is extra !!!!

Staff were pleasant but you had to leave your key and ask for a room clean, clean sheets , towels or loo rolls.

The good news is that because no one wanted to stay at the hotel during the day there wasn’t a rush for the 7 sun beds which by the way did not have any cushions on them so were so uncomfortable you could not use them anyway !

Following conversations with fellow guests most of them were also fooled by the location of the hotel so we asked the question … the Manager enlightened us that there was indeed another hotel in Baga owned by the same group and all the administration, booking , brochure releases and I presume google map locations are done from there – simple !

Oh!, and by the way when we did go to the nearest beach it was still about 700 meters away !!!

On a last note which is only partly the Hotel’s fault as they did accept their booking … there were several Russian staying there, anyone who has come across our comrades on holiday before will know the problems they cause and why Hotels that chose to accommodate them are best avoided !

My only advice is there are much better places to stay in Goa so choose carefully !!!!!!

Room Tip: Book somewhere else

We have stayed in other Hotels in Calangute ( Osborne,Somy, Colona de braganza ) and this Hotel is on par with them. The room was cleaned each day and we had clean bedding and towels each day,The pool was clean and very welcoming after a hot day on the Beach, its a shame the sunbeds and lack of parasols let it down. The staff are very good and very helpful. What little food we had in the Hotel was very good. The Hotel is situated mid way between Calangute and Candolim, just a few minuets from Holiday street and the Beach. Some of the best rated restaurants are within a few minuets walk from the Hotel.
All in all a good place to stay near to the Beach,Bars and excellent restaurants
Some of our favourate places are Babutes,Zicco's and Aggies on the Beach.
