Just returned from staying at the Osborne and have to say nothing like it used to be.
We have stayed at Osborne about 8 times over the last 11 years and never really had a problem with the rooms apart from the beds which are rock hard and the food has never been that great, we also always seemed to get ill after eating there so this year we didn't eat there and surprise surprise no sickness.
We have always gone to Osborne mainly because of the waiting staff who were always very helpful and looked after the guests but this year the waiting staff are all new except for about 3 which have been moved to phase 3 from phase 2, we found the new waiters to be uninterested in their guests.
The Breakfasts of Coffee, Tea, Toast and Jam are supposed to be from 7-10 but the breakfast stuff was never out and ready for 7am and on one morning it was 7.30 before anything appeared and if like us you go out early this can be a problem and on this particular day there was a manager doing the toast and one of the waiters came out with the tea urn so i thought i would go and ask for some toast seeing as there were 2 members of staff there but they started having a conversation so i stood there a waited for them to finish thinking it was the polite thing to do but after the conversation was over the manager who is a new one to me and is not the Hotel manager so not to sure what his role is carried on with his toasting for some other guests who were leaving so i turned to the waiter to ask him and he totally ignored the fact i was there and picked up a cloth and started polishing the tea urn so we decided not to bother and we went and had breakfast at the beach and one last comment on the toast they use stale bread which you can tell when you bite into it.
You have to pay £76 extra when you get there if you want a room with A/C which has always been the case, so we paid it only for it to start leaking water into our room after 3 days, so i reported it to reception and nothing was done about it so we had to put a towel down to soak up the water and then it kept tripping out and they sent an electrician who came and done something to it and said it was fixed only for it to trip out again as soon as he was gone, then while i took a shower a man from reception came to the room and was quite rude to my Wife and said that it could not be fixed so i said they would have to refund me the 4 days we had remaining but they wanted us to move rooms which with only 4 days of our holiday left we didn't want to do so i insisted on the refund which i got the following morning.
So after the poor experience this year will be our last at the Osborne.
