I'm a big Japanese food lover so this is a little biased. I wish apart from the fab garlic kingfish, miso, gyoza, beef and wakame salad their was more use of the local fish etc. Japanese food must haves variety of sashimi and sushi and I found that missing. But the food on the menu is authentic and full of flavour. I would give it a five star rating if it only had more variety in seafood .

The place was average looking , a rough garage kind of look .food was average tasting not the best Japanese !! Nevertheless for the price the portions were a decent size . The biggest put off was the number of flies hovering around our food and table !! We even told the owner about it who had the audacity to say nothing can be done about it !! The worst thing to happen at the end of a holiday ,two people in group were down with food poisoning the very next morning ! The least a place can do is install a pest repellant or do regular pest control .

Satisfied my sushi craving. A bit pricey if you're on a budget but still worth it.
The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Went there as it was highly recommended. The food is a change in Goa but do not expect any authentic japanese food. The portions were very hearty. The service was good and it had a friendly and warm vibe all around. Gets warm.

One of the obvious attractions in North Goa is dining, especially when it comes to Indo-Portuguese, seafood and fusion cuisine. But in case you’re looking for something less quotidian, then do try Sakana.

We booked a table for four for dinner but it appeared that no one had taken note. The only table left was outside the main dining area near the gate, but this turned out to suit us well because we were away from the noise, the smoke and the blasting ceiling fans inside. Sit here if you want some peace and fresh air.

Although the restaurant was busy, the waiter came quickly with the menus. However his English was limited and he couldn’t answer some basic questions we had about the food offering. So trusting instinct we ordered the Japanese style beef carpaccio, prawn gyoza, California roll and the smoked salmon avocado roll.

The plates did not come together, so two of us dug in while two of us were left to salivate. Once everyone had been served though, it was a great meal. We ordered seconds of the delicious sushi and the blueberry cheesecake was also very yummy.

Despite the scratchy service, recommended as the food is top!
