We stopped based on the reviews. We wondered when we saw a sign that it had new owners, but we went anyway ordered half chicken and pork bbq. While waiting I heard the guy at the next table say he felt like everything needed salt. When our meat came out the girls wasn't sure which sauce was in which bottles and the chicken didn't look very appealing. Both Meats were under seasoned, and did need salt and more. The only flavor on the chickenwas smoke. We left over half the chicken behind. Also we ordered only meat and they still charged a plate price. Way too much $ for the quality.

Have not been able to try the ribs, they often sell out, but the half smoked chicken is killer! Could wish for salad as a lighter side, but others are delicious. Love the baked beans.

Food is always good but they run out of stuff a lot and is very disappointing if you were craving something particular.

The BBQ is consistently good, but the service is consistently spotty. I've been here several times, and the waitresses seem to be pretty busy talking to each other or other staff, checking their cell phone, etc. instead of making sure the customers are well-taken care of. If you're not in a hurry, and don't mind waiting to get a refill on your iced tea, or watch your food get cold while you're waiting for something, then this place will be fine. But if you're looking for good service, look elsewhere. Atmosphere is okay, just normal country restaurant style. Prices and selection are pretty good.

The Big Jim's Bama Q treat begins when you step ot of your car. That's when you get that great ribs on the grill smoke aroma from the pit that brings out what BBQ is all about. Remember, if there ain't no smoke it ain't BBQ. Big Jim's food is just simply outstanding. His three spare rib plate with two sides is the ticket. I get mine with french fries and bbq beans with Jim's hot bbq sauce on the side for the ribs. It's a man's size plate at a good price. By the way these ribs are large, meaty, tasty, tender and finger licking representations of what the south is about. Oh yeah, call Big Jim's before you go and reserve your ribs. I have learned to do that because I live thirty seven miles from the restaurant and they just might be sold out when you get there. And when you do that, ask Jim to save you a piece of his home made chocolate cake.
