I went there last week with my family. The price I found lil on the higher side if compare with quality and price. The service is not at all very warming. Most of the beverages in the menu are not available with them that day. In the time of almost dried out time, service boys were waiting when we leave. I found lil annoying. I ordered firne at last and it was not up to the mark, compare with the other branches of Aminia, specially biriyani and firne are much better in nakhoda Aminia.

The famous Aminia restaurant near New Market is spreading its armsg, and one such arm is the Aminia, Bidhan Sarani. The restaurant started off with special offers like no taxing on food for the first few days. I was not lucky enough to visit it during those golden days. However, I made it a point to visit it as early as possible.

The Ambiance:
Once you enter through the glass doors, you leave behind a cacophony of hawkers, honking buses, clattering trams and move up to a floor where the sound changes to clattering of forks and spoons. You enter a huge floor of, at an eye estimate, about eighty covers. The look is a direct contrast to the old time restaurant that one associates Aminia with. Seamless glass windows on two sides give you a great view of "North Calcutta" sans the sound and heat. The tables adjacent to the longer side of the glass wall seem a bit cramped. Still such proximity does not intrude upon your little groups.

Food:
Though Aminia is well known for its Biryani and Stew, we tried Reshmi and Kasturi kababs, Masala Kulcha and Chicken Bharta for some change. The Kababs were undoubtedly juicy and soft. However, the Reshmi Kabab was a bit oily and had a crunchy crust. The herbs in Kasturi kabab came out quite well. The kababs were served with a dip of mint and yogurt. The kabab episode went well. The Masala Kulcha tasted wonderful. The Bharta was not like the typical thick gravy of 'Charmagaz'. It was actually shredded chicken in a gravy of ghee and masala. It went well with the Masal Kulcha. No. we didn't go for desserts as we were to full with kababs, kulcha and bharta. Each plate of kabab had six pieces and the sizes were mouthful. Three plates of kabab, two kulchas and a plate of bharta was too full for three of us and cost a little less than a 1000 Rupees. So I would say it is value for money.

Service:
The service has nothing to complain about. The people were courteous (though smiles were invisible) and at hand to take orders. The waiting time was just enough to not to get you bored.

CAUTION:
Weekends can be crowded and getting a table after 8:30 pm may be a problem. (Wait on the pavement or squeeze up on the ground floor if space permits. We were lucky because we got in at around 7:30.
