A gem that must not be missed that is like stepping back into the 1940s. Completely unspoilt and unchanged private house with few visitors and yet a trove of treasures. Rundown but that is part of its charm.

A visit to the Marble Palace is certainly awe-inspiring considering the varied collections from all over the World. And, if you get to hear the stories of the early owners who made these collections possible - you will realise that what you are seeing is the embodiment of Extravagant Opulence of Yester-years.

Hidden away down a sidestreet near M. Ghandi metro. The interior is full of Victoriana-very strange in Asia. You have to have a guide who will be discontented whatever you pay him!

This place is out of time. You will have to give 100 Rs to the guard to enter the garden and park in font of this Marble palace. It is full of antics bring to India by Raja Rajendra Mullick, a rich Merchant.... When walking in the alleys, you are seeing Rubens as well as a lot of kitschy art objects, all mixed together. But the ambiance of the place is great, with pigeons flying and the sun entering through broken windows... A small zoo complete the garden (monkeys,  birds...)

You can't take photos and it is quite shabby, but even so the floors have over 70 kinds of marble in them. There are song birds in cages which in the inner courtyard sounds lovely. A cool, calm sanctuary from the streets of Kolkotta. You have to have a permit unless you are with a guide. Recommend Calcutta walks.
