Many people in the city speak of Flurys with hushed tones remembering a bygone era - unfortunately the experience isn't up to the reputation - its actually expensive , the attention to detail is lacking , grubby coasters and a one serviette per person rule, very uninspiring menu and rather aloof staff. The place could be so much better and should be. Have a tea or a coffee and soak up the atmosphere but there are better places for tea and its certainly not on a par with other establishments around the world. Pity.

Heard so much about this place before finally eating here more than once. The food is okay, not great by any stretch of imagination. Also, the food is terribly overpriced. And they serve stuff in paper plates if you don’t order the breakfast.

There was a time that Flurys was synonymous with the charm of Kolkata and a must-visit for out of town visitors. But that is gone now. The place lives on history and the generosity of sentimental Calcuttans. Dirty interiors, plaster falling from ceiling in places, food sticking to table tops and smelly toilets are what we experienced. The baked goods were a day or two old/poor quality except the Cinnamon Buns which were fresh and nice. The Darjeeling tea was excellent. Why the prices are comparable to 5 star hotels for this output is anybody's guess.

I went to the place after dinner for some desserts. Quite dissapointed with Pineapple fresh cream, red velvet and chocolate truffle. The cream was smelly and the pastry was hard. Dissapointed.
