Went there with our dog , hence had to be seated outside . Great location , loved the sound of the waves as a backdrop .
The hosts / owners are absolutely delightful and have an incredibly inspiring history .
Food was gorgeous , bursting with flavours . Berry pulao ( spicy ) and the mutton Biryani were a total hit .
Loved the baklava too . Very distinct flavours , speak of the love that has gone in and of course the culinary expertise .
Very competitive pricing , would definitely recommend .
Thank you for having us , we had a lovely time.

Shiraz Art Cafe is located in ECR neelankarai near to the Beach club. It's a sea facing restaurant. Parking is not an issue as you have lot of space in front of the restaurant.

From outside the restaurant it seemed to be a fairly small one. But as you enter you will be amazed to see the space and aesthetics that has been brought into while designing the café. Really classy..!!! They also allow outside dining to enjoy the sea breeze and night chillness..

Food is a mix of Persian, Indian and Continental cuisines. They are very keen in customer satisfaction and you can see that even while taking the orders. They explained in detail about the menu and helped us in selecting the right food for us. The food was good.. tasty.. a bit costly though.. but the ambiance and the feel u get during your visit will compensate for that..

One of the recommended restaurants in Chennai if you wish to try something different form the daily stuff...

If you have had your fill of Chettinadu cuisine in Chennai, and are looking for something different, with a bit of culture and experience thrown in, head to this quaint little joint, run by the brother sister duo- Nasrin and Dariush. The place goes by the name of Shiraz Cafe, next to the beach on ECR road. Based on the Shiraz region in Iran, known for its poetry, literature, flowers and wine, the place offers a delectable mix of Iranian, Continental and Indian cuisine, which is a little odd, as they can just avoid the Indian and concentrate on the first itself, but maybe there are commercial considerations to take care of of.
Nevertheless, Iranian stuff is good and sumptuous, with some good mutton dishes, and a very different and tasty berry pulo (see picture), its as close to true original Iranian dish, with a bit of spices thrown in to suit our Indian taste buds. Try out some of their drinks (all soft due to the stupid highway no-alcohol rule)- guava sorbet being in high demand.
Apart from the good food, enjoy the spacious setting, with a bit of British art culture thrown in. My only problem was the slow service, the hostess herself had to come to our table to take the order after around 15 mins of waiting.
It's a great find though, and a place you might like to go back for repeats.

This is that type of restaurant where the owner comes to you and guides you on what to order. Quite Authentic, very very tasty food (especially if you are into mutton), limited menu (which is the correct way to do it), beach facing, quiet, etc.

Ask the brother-sister owners of what to eat and they will gladly guide you along the way. There's also a giant German Shepard to play with in the surrounding area if you have the balls (cos the dog certainly has very big ones)

p.s. I didn't want to write a review of this place for fear that the more reviews there are, the more crowded this place will become... it is THAT DELICIOUS.
