“Enjoying High Tea among loyal and royal friends”
Reviewed 8 May 2012

The Raj era lives on at Rambagh Palace
This is my second visit to Rambagh Palace. This time our group was entertained with High Tea in the splendidly kept garden grounds. It was as if we were transported to a time that once excelled in pomp, ceremony and grandeur, only this time we were just ordinary people wanting to experience the cream of high society. High tea was served in the gardens where peacocks strolled about as if nothing had changed over the years. There were varied menus in reference to high tea, we chose the one that offered the countless types of tea to suit multiple tastebuds. The tea was served from individual teapots and strainers so as not to blend flavors. The tiered sweet and savory plates had an assortment of many cakes, pastries, jams and jellies along with finger sandwiches. We exchanged polite conversation and pleasantries during our tea and realized that the time had lapsed into the early evening. At this time we noticed that royal dignitaries were indeed coming to the palace that evening by all the pomp and ceremonial costumes adorned by the camels elephants, guards and horses. What a sight! Unfortunately we had to head off for the airport and missed the arrival of .......... guess who?

I stayed here as part of a business tour/trip in February. Whilst I was here, I became very unwell and needed to be treated overnight by a local doctor. The staff at the hotel made it possible for our suite to be made into a temporary hospital room for the night and I was looked after with a kindness that I will remember to the end of my days. Despite being unable to enjoy the food, I am assured by my husband, and the rest of our party, that it was superb.

Room Tip: I doubt that any here could be classed as anything other than 'good'!

We stayed at this very beautiful place for two days. The place is palatial but our would be perfect stay was marred by the attitude of the staff. We got the feeling that we were not really welcome and the staff was more eager and welcoming to the foreigners. Though the lady at the reception was welcoming and warm but most of the other staff made us feel as though we were staying for the first time at a five star property. A really good place but the arrogant behavior of staff left us disappointed.

A former palace the grounds of the Rambagh Palace are absolutely breathtaking. The rooms are spectacular and the service is impeccable. Overall a really beautiful hotel and a worthwhile experience. A real oasis in the craziness that India can feel like.
A couple of quick comments, the air conditioning can use improvement. it was loud and the temperature was inconsistent which interfered with my sleep.
Also, considering the quality of the hotel I found the gym to be adequate but that's all. the equipment was in excellent condition but was somewhat limited but the rooms, off to the side of the pool, was not that inviting. Also, the aerobic equipment is separated from the rest of the equipment.

Room Tip: i am sure every room is exceptional.
