“Excellent Homestay and one of the best”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

The homestay was recommended by a friend and even though we booked last minute we were gladly taken in as there was a room available.

The rooms were perfect and clean and the neighbourhood was very nice.

Breakfast was included and was the tastiest we had in our entire month long trip in India. We were only staying for 1 night BUT regret not staying here for 2-3 nights as we could have known the family better.

Highly recommended.

From the instant replies over email to the accommodating personality of the whole family, our stay at Jaipur Friendly Villa was memorable! This was my first time at a B&B in India and if they're anything like JFV, we'll never stay in a hotel again! It's such a welcoming feeling to come back after a long day of sightseeing and feel like you are "home".

Shevta is adorably bubbly filled with sarcastic stories that made us feel like we were in a relative's living room. The husband/wife duo have loads of helpful recommendations to see the city and even arrange a driver at your convenience!

The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. Make sure to indulge in at least 1 meal and breakfast - masala omlettes and mini tapioca croquets for breakfast and wonderful veg and non-veg curries for dinner. Shevta is a great cook and makes many of her own preserves as well as chutneys.

BEST stay in Rajasthan! Shveta and Kul are the perfect hosts and as close to family as you can get while traveling away from home. They bent over backwards to accommodate me during my 2 night visit in Jaipur. I arrived with the typical travelers stomachache and Kul was kind enough to drive me to the doctor who is 10 minutes away, where I had a quick exam and picked up antibiotics (if you're feeling ill, it is worth it to see a doctor, costs less than $15USD total for exam and meds). He also helped me book train and tiger safaris for nearby Ranthambore (with his own credit card, which worked out seamlessly), and Sveta arranged for a reliable driver to take me around major sites in Jaipur.

The Standard room was already booked, so Shveta offered me the Superior room at the Standard room price (2000R/night). Their home is gorgeous and my room was huge, with a kitchenette and deck overlooking a nice garden (where you could probably do some exercises in the morning), desk, tv, heater, extremely clean, hot water, very fast internet, printer, local phone/intercom to speak to the other rooms, and food is absolutely delicious.

Book with them asap, since their rooms can fill up quickly. They provide Ritz quality attention without the pretension and the rest of the comments here are spot on for a reason... you'll find your stay superior to any fancy hotel and a giant step above any budget or mid-priced guesthouse.

Thank you Sveta and Kul!

Why is it excellent? The family is extremely gracious, friendly, honest and the food is excellent! The room was very clean. Shveta and her husband take pride in their homestay and genuinely want to be helpful. They would literally do anything for their guests - including taking you to the doctor if you are having stomach issues - something they had done for another guest while we were there. They are like an extended family. They also provide some of the best home cooked Indian food for dinner. You never get the feeling that they are trying to nickel-and-dime you - something we experienced at other homestays during our trip. Thank you Shveta and Kul!

A couple of other notes - they are located in a residential neighborhood about 8k outside of the old city (100-150 rupees one way). They provide very fast high-speed internet - with printer. They have a beautiful 2 story deck, which is great for relaxing and have a nice park in their backyard. They also have some great advice on things to see around Jaipur and transportation options to surrounding areas.

I had a 2 weeks tour in India and chose B&B everywhere for my stay. Among all the B&Bs, Friendly Villa has the best breakfast & room quality. Previous reviewers already wrote a lot about this, and you can also see it from my photos attached.
Here I just want to highlight 2 things:
1. Kul & Shveta are very hospitable & helpful, Kul spent 1 hour to help me find out a train and book the ticket by his own credit card and then print the ticket for me. I really really appreciate this, otherwise, I have to catch up a slow & unsafe bus.
2. This B&B is not in the old city, auto-rickshaw to old city costs rs. 100, to railway station about rs. 60. Among all the 3 rickshaw drivers I chose, only 1 knew where is "Veer Vihar", but fortunately all of them knew "Queens Road", so I had to let them go to "Queens Road" first, then find "Veer Vihar" by myself :) The benefit is, you get a very quiet environment, no need to worry about any noise at all!
