“Excellent Service and a good hotel”
Reviewed 16 January 2012

This is the first hotel we stayed in Mumbai starting Jan 6. On arrival, the hotel staff was extremely helpful, specially Kishen (hope the spelling is correct) and the frontdesk staff. Kishen offered us complimentary breakfast for three of us which was just great. And regarding the breakfast, it was great, my daughter loved the plain cheese dosa and I believe she had 3 of them (fairly smaller dosas just fit for her). The whole Sarovar family were extremely calm and pleasing and assisted us in everything. At this price and pertaining to the amenities and services rendered, its one hell of a hotel which can give you a comfortable experience whether you are on a business trip or with your family. Am surely gonna stop by this place next time I am in Mumbai. Recommended yes!

And yes, if you are in a mood to do shopping, shopping malls like Inorbit and Infiniti are just close by about 10 min walk.

I have stayed there so many times. Really loved this property. Rooms are big and great. Nice view from the big windows. Food is excellent. Service is superb. Its difficult sometimes to get an auto from outside the hotel (getting auto in mumbai otherwise is really easy and convenient). Very close to 3 malls.
Really dont have any reason to not go back there.

Room Tip: Choose a room on higher floor.

We would like to share our experience at Grand Sarovar Premier in Mumbai. From our point of view it was our worst experience ever. In future we will never ever come to any hotel of the Sarovar Group. Following problems we got at your hotel.

Accommodation:
1) The rooms are too loud. That’s why we had to change our room after the first night.
2) On 30.12.2011 they were doing the preparation for theeEvent on 31.12.2011 in the night at 03:30 am. I requested to your front desk at least 4 times. But nothing had happened. Our room no. was 704. Directly under the roof. So we got the maximum disturbance. Your reception responsible are ridiculers and doing nothing for customers. At the end I had to go upstairs personally to stop them. By the time my sleep was ruined.
3) Checkout service: we told the front desk manager to give us a call when our cab is there (for our dropping). But this didn’t happen. Luckily we set an alarm. Otherwise we would have missed our flight, too.

Restaurant:
1) We arrived in Mumbai in the night on 28.12.2011 at 10:40 PM. We ordered some Okra recipe along with 2 Garlic Naans. The Food came to our room at 00:10 AM. Furthermore the food was totally cold. So we send the food back because it was too late and not tasty at all. Despite our complaints we had to pay for it in the end.
2) Day 2: we were not feeling that good. That is why we ordered a big bowl with hot water and a spoon. We have waited for around 35 minutes. Then we talked to Mr. Kevin (Restaurant Manager) to get the water. It took around 45 minutes to get our order. But at the end there was still no spoon.
3) On the third day at breakfast: The waiters were using the used napkins (from customers) to clean the coffee and tea jars. First of all it was not hygienic and you should not do that in front of customer. We left our table immediately after seeing this and reported this to the responsible.
4) 31.12.2011 Event:
a. We have paid 5000 Rs. for this Event. I already talked to Mr. D’Souza (Front Desk Manager) on 30.12.2011 that we were not feeling that good and requested for a good table. The table we got was direct in front of the loud speakers. It was too loud and we were not even able to sit 45 minutes constantly.
b. We were not told that the brunch is also included in our package. That means the guests not living in the hotel got better service than us.
c. If someone offers a buffet, you can get everywhere in the world at least one sort of soup. But this hotel is something unique. So it was not offered at all.
d. Just for one “Sweet Lime Soda” I requested almost thrice to 4 different waiters to get our drink.
e. There were no fireworks at the hotel available on Silvesternight. Even we were not allowed to go upstairs on the roof to see other fireworks in the city. This was not told us at the time of booking.
f. At this event you got 3 different Mottos. One of them was a “Yahoo Nights”. A tribute to a great legend of Hindi Cinema Mr. Shammi Kapoor. But the joke of the trip was, they never ever played a single song from him. At all three locations the music was the same. Additionally you could hear one song minimum 3 times. This is not a real qualified DJ.
5) 01.12.2011: After the disastrous event of 31st we were at the breakfast table. But there were not enough food available for all the guests. Every time we told waiters and the staff to fill the juices, glasses, fruits, etc.
6) 02.12.2012: Service problem continues. We ordered only 1 hard boiled egg (well done). But we got the complete opposite of well done.

All this complaints were forwarded to Mr. Balkrishnan (General Manager) and to all the fesponsibles. But despite that they were not taking our complaints seriously. The amount of mistakes (restaurant) repeated almost everyday.

I’ll forward this list of complaints to all major travel companies across Europe. So they will not suffer the same problems as we got. And I’m very much sure that the Management of Sarover Group is not going to take any action after this letter.

We stayed for 1 night at the GSP and were highly impressed with everything! The service was impeccable - the staff have a great attitude and will help in any way possible. Only minor downside was the hardness of the bed..... would definitely return!!

Stayed here on business for 4 days. Comfortable hotel, very friendly staff with great food in the restaurant. The pool on the roof is a bit basic, but still nice, and the gym is good though small. Close to the Bombay Exhibition Centre, a little far North for everything else in Mumbai, especially as the traffic is so bad. That said, it's easy to get an auto to the train station and get the train into town. For business hotel comfort and service this is a great choice.
