“Checked in and then checked straight out - horrible”

Due to fog our connecting flight through Delhi was cancelled and we were provided with a night at Modesty Om Palace - it was horrible with building work next door happening right outside our window. Damp and sparse, we checked out and went into Delhi.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Granted it was an overnighter for the airport but...It was so dirty I wouldnt get undressed. The sheets were frayed at the bottom, the bath was cracked and dirty. The indoor restaurant didnt exist. The outdoor 'terrace' restaurant consisted of some dirty dusty chairs on a terrace that hadnt been used in the last 6 months. In the so called dining room at breakfast the following morning there were droppings, which were probably from a mouse, on the pile of plates The staff seemed genuinelly unprepared for people actually wanting to eat something..It seems no one actually eats here. Because of its proximity to the airport and the frequency of flights throughout the night, there were groups of people walking and talking in the corridors. We would rather have stayed at the airport which has had a considerable upgrade since our time in Delhi last year.
The area around the hotel was not too bad if you are used to travelling in India although there is nothing to do as such
NEVER NEVER NEVER again. If I had a worst enemy I wouldnt dislike them enough to recommend this DUMP

The best things about the hotel are its courteous staff and proximity to the airport.

Unfortunately, the negatives are many.

Approach road and the location are horrible and in the rainy season, it is the worst situation. One can not clearly give directions to anyone wanting to visit you in the hotel.

The website claims to have a restaurant, but in reality it is only "room service'. The complimentary breakfast is limited, frugal and served in the room.

Newspapers are not provided, only when you ask a couple of times.

Rooms dont have any windows. Bedside lamp is provided, but without any connecting point.

Food brought for room service is placed on the bed, because there is no other ,table to place the trays.

Water flow in the "Bath room" shower was too thin and minimal.

I booked for a Deluxe room and was told by the management that, I was allotted a higher grade "Club room". Whatever the room, it was neither "deluxe" nor "Club", but very ordinary.

1. The hotel misrepresents it's room and service quality in it's advertising and the tariff represents neither the quality nor service provided.

2. To a large extent the listed items in the brochure were absent from the room (no fridge et cetera). However, to their credit the wifi/internet connection was good.

3. The room was unclean with holes in the ceiling and the bathroom....filthy.

4. We decided to leave but the management refused to let us leave unless we payed at least half the tariff. They offered a different room but we declined...eventually they relented and gave us the room for 1200 rupees if we promised not to leave.

5. The restaurant (if you can call it that...a school canteen might be more accurate) is overpriced and the food mediocre at best...not at all impressed.
