We traveled as a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids) & stayed for 1 night on 31st July 2017. This is a boutique property in Kandy - more of a B&B run by a very warm family - so you feel you are staying at a friend or relative's place.
Location - Quite and scenic. Away from the hustle bustle of the typical touristy areas. You need a car or tuk-tuk to get here initially - you can walk to City Centre (about 15 - 20 minutes scenic walk). Biggest plus is waking up to the amazing sunrise view with hills till your eyes can reach - proof of an awesome stay !!
Check in - Max 5 minutes. They said they could accommodate an early check in if needed.
Room - Large quadraple room in 2nd floor with a very spacious bathroom. The property is just 1 year old, and the room is like a 4 or 5 star hotel. Room was super clean. Amazing view from room with balcony to watch the hills. Balcony is a superb photo op place (my profile pic taken here). Complementary water + Tea/coffee was available.
View - The room that we got had a view of the hills. And the terrace is just a hidden gem here - you can walk up to watch the Sunrise and it is just amazing. We watched the sunrise with a hot cup of special homemade Tea (see pictures). We will never forget the sunrise in Kandy !!
Bathroom - Super clean. A bit small (read like European hotels) but shower place was good. The hot shower was just awesome.
Towels - Clean & fresh.
Bed - Very good. We slept well.
Airconditioning - No aircon - but Kandy weather is cool in the nights, so most places do not have an aircon.
Mosquitoes - Zero mosquitoes (unless you leave windows open for long in the evenings). Do not leave windows open in the night & watch out in daytime as we saw a couple of monkeys around. Staff also informed us ahead to be careful.
Pool - no pool.
Staff - Awesome team. Very friendly. Mrs Ramani (the owner's mom) & the helper Sajeeva were super helpful. Nothing was an issue at all. Sajeeva helped carry the luggage to our room in 2nd floor. Since we went during the Perehara festival, Mrs Ramani (with my wife in the pic) told us to go early to the Temple (to avoid the rush) and gave tips on the Perehara fest too. It helped us during the evening trip out !!
Food - Breakfast was awesome - the spread was fit for a King (see pics). We are vegetarian & they took special care to cook dishes for us & explained about each dish. Mrs. Ramani is an amazing cook & a very warm person. She shared family recipes & makes the best tea in Kandy. They served us tea on the terrace when we went to watch the sunrise at 5.45 AM. When my wife mentioned that her tea was outstanding, she gave us a packet of tea leaves & shared the shop name where we could get it. It was so sweet of her !!
Wifi - They shared us password & it worked. They helped us move the router closer when we said the signal was a bit weak
We were very happy at the end of the 1-night stay. I would love to return to this place with my family.
This was our first day in Sri Lanka and we were given such a warm welcome at Beauty Hills Residence! Though we only stayed one night, the owner had gone out of his way to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. There were 3 of us girls, and the room itself was very spacious and clean. We had an incredible view of Kandy from our balcony which we couldn't get enough of. The breakfast was also very good (cooked by the owner himself!) and included some very delicious fresh mangos and pineapple. We really wish we had stayed a few more nights here but we had a packed itinerary for Sri Lanka. I highly recommend staying here on your visit to Kandy!! :)
