Performance was quite amateurish. Despite of performing each afternoon, some dancers were obvious out of sync with others. Its okay for the price you pay (1000 rupees) and honestly it doesn’t really worth much more than that. Its close to tooth relics temple so if you are just there to kill time, this is a good option.

This dance is held in the Kandy Cultural Centre, so don’t confuse it with other dances held nearby. We found this performance quite enjoyable & informative, & would certainly recommend for a first time visitor to Kandy.
For a young tourist country like Sri Lanka this is a nice performance. Only negatives are the extremely poor quality of the toilets & the fact they basically force you to pay a donation on the way out.

The venue was a large dusty hall with no A/C. Some of the drapings of the stage needed attention. We were lucky and our guide got us seats at the front - it may have been a problem sitting further back as the auditorium was not sloped.
The dancers were adequate and the drumming good, but compared to a similar show in Cochin, Kerala, it was not nearly as professional.
But one of my biggest faults were with the toilets. Come on guys! You have got several hundred people in here, all paying good money and to have 3 ladies cubicles, which you could smell from the corridor, and for which there was no running water to wash hands in afterwards is not on. Preferred to wait (and live) in the end.
Did not put me in a good mood to see the show.

We visited these two shops after our visit to the temple. You have to walk up steps to get to the shops. They were small but had a lot of very nice objects in them but quite a lot of them were expensive.. Me and my mum bought some beautiful brass ornaments which had been made by hand. There seemed to be a complicated system of writing invoices and we had to wait quite a while for change. It should be a much quicker system for customers buying items. Outside there were some benches where some people were doing hand carving, which was nice to see and very interesting.

Not sure if it was just our group or on the whole but there were no English explanations given in a brochure of any form while they were performing. We were quite clueless throughout. It also does not look very professional as there was little synchronization in their dances. Try to get the front 5 row seats by getting your tickets in advance as once beyond that it's hard to appreciate the show. The fire walking at the end was quite cool though. I think I paid $10usd for this 1 hour show.

Recommended to watch the 5pm show so that you can head over to the tooth relic temple nearby to catch the opening of the room at 6.30pm.
