Having stayed here before I was looking forward to my holiday. Everything was fantastic. The food, service, live music at weekends.. Could not have been better. The room was exceptional with all the amenities.. Did not need the plug adaptors as the hotel has installed the palest plug sockets that take any type of plug... The staff made fantastic creations with towels when they turned down the beds in the evening. Very good pool and bar etc. will stay there again on my next visit

Room Tip: Most room have a balcony facing the sea

Our room were clean and quiet. We were on the first floor so we had sun beds right outside our window.

Staff was very friendly and flexible. They had a lot of good suggestion and no problem to extend our booking.

The breakfast buffet had a lot of options. The quality of the food was OK

The only negative things were the price, no WiFi in the rooms and no cold water in the bathroom (?? I know)

For me, nothing quite beats beachfront living so the fact that the hotel was just steps from the ocean was a huge plus. However, in general, the offerings were a bit underwhelming. We didn't get full board and instead only opted for breakfast (we grabbed lunch and dinner on our own at the many restaurants in the vicinity) and the pricing seemed to suggest it was a good choice. The bar was expensive and the pool table had a fee so having a good time was a bit more costly than was worth it.

You're right by the corals so snorkelling and water sports are a very easy option.

Nice and clean place. but to much for that price in my opinion, the room was ok but nothing special. the food was good but very expensive, 750 lkr for a plate of chips is too much. i will come back but i hope they put down the room price.

Room Tip: rooms are big but too much old.

Stayed when this was discounted to $44 for a double. Even at that discounted rate Coral Sands was very poor value for money because the $44 was for the room only, without breakfast ($51 with breakfast) and there was a 30% add on as taxes.

Whereas the 4 star Chaya Tranz Hotel, which is just a few hotels to the south charged only $47 for a double room ($56 with breakfast for two) on these off season discounted rates. But the extra value we got at Chaya Tranz for the 3 or 4 extra dollars was about $40 when compared to what we got at Coral Sands.

The rooms at Coral Sands are dated and uncoordinated; old beds, chairs and mattresses. Everything was from a frugal era when amenities at tourist hotels were very basic and poor. Even the Deluxe room at Coral Sands is very poorly and didn't look or feel luxurious at all. Even a standard room at Chaya Tranz is far superior in comparison.

Professionalism lacks across all departments at all levels and the food too was very basic and poor value for money.

The beach in-front of the hotel was unsuitable for use as lots of fishing boats are moored there with their ropes and there are oil slicks. The usable beach is quite a walk southwards.
