I stayed there for a night on my way to machu picchu. Super friendly! Super fun! Good view from the porch. Really good breakfast (pancake with dulce!).

I would stay here again, in fact this is the only place I would stay in A.C.

They picked me up at the train station, the hostel is a short walk from there!

Aguas Calientes is a funky little town mainly servicing people on their way to Machu Picchu.. we stayed here four nights. They had really comfortable beds and pillows and surprisingly warm comforters.. super helpful staff although only one spoke English at the time we were there. The hostel is located on the 'locals' side of town and surrounded by small restaurants owned by Peruvian families rather than the hustle of the opposite side of town. The restaurant next door to Supertramp served us the best 7 peso dinner ($3). My mouth is watering as I remember it.

Will definitely stay here again if I ever return :)

SuperTramp is run by REALLY friendly and helpful guys that aim to please.
Sleeping rooms & linens are clean, bath area is somewhat new...showers have comfortably warm water, sinks are nice and stylish. kitchen is free--small but ample for cooking simple foods. Lockers smell of fresh paint--(not a good thing as the dorm rooms smell of the paint, too). Location is a bit off the high-traveled path--good for less town noise and for less expensive tourist eating options.

Room Tip: Choose the Dorm room #1 (12 beds) as the bath is on the same floor. Dorm 2 has fewer beds but is nea...

Everything about the hostel itself was great. We arrived later in the evening and wanted to go find somewhere to eat- the nice (and attractive) front desk man took us around the city and showed us some great restaurants and markets. They were able to help us get the tickets we needed and all of the info about what we wanted to do. The beds were comfy and clean- showers were warm (which was not always the case throughout Peru). The only problem I had was out of control of the hostel- the all night party going on outside my window complete with fighting dogs, screaming kids, and terrible latino "music." My friends didn't seem to mind because their heads weren't right by the window, but for me it was terrible- I definitely recommend staying here- just try and avoid sleeping next to the window, especially if you have an early morning Machu Picchu trip.

Room Tip: Stay away from the window!

Stayed here in August before going to Machu Picchu. It is close to the train and bus station. It was a little hard to find with my Google map, but after getting our bearings we stumbled upon it. Their map was much better. There is no large sign outside, and you have to ring to get in. Paid US$32 for a private room. The room was private but the bathrooms are shared. Mostly younger clientele. They have 2 private rooms. The room was basic, clean and comfortable, but one of the walls is a picture window with a curtain, and above the door there is a space where a window would be, but it is empty. So, we could hear every noise from upstairs and down. Luckily, things quieted down after 11 pm or so, and we got a good night's sleep. Good wifi. Showers had hot water. There is a charge of 5 soles (about a $2) for a towel. As is the custom in Peru, all paper is put in a bin instead of flushed down the toilet; as you can see by the photo, they need to either put a bigger bin, or empty them more often. Gross. They bill the place as an "eco-hostel" and signs all over exhort you to conserve water, turn off the water while shampooing, etc. They are very friendly and accommodating; they will wake you up to catch the early bus, give good travel advice, and fix you breakfast as early as you want. Unfortunately, they were out of gas so we had to settle for bread and jam instead of eggs and pancakes. At 5 a.m., it is very dark in Aguascalientes, when we exited the hostel, it was pitch black and no street lights. We nearly bumped into a man walking down the street. Fortunately, the area seemed safe. I would bring a flashlight next time! Overall, a good place for young people and backpackers that don't mind sharing facilities, or maybe older travelers that can put up with it for 1 night.
