As part of our family's trip to Morocco, we scheduled a visit to the town of Merzouga and used it as our starting point for a camel excursion and desert camping experience. Although I'm typically not an early riser, it was well worth the chill and sandy attire to get up before the sun and watch as it climbed up over the dunes. Truly a 'Lawrence of Arabia' moment. Additionally, the stars at night were so bright and beautiful. If the moon hadn't been out, we probably could have seen more stars than sky.

Really big sand dunes and beautiful colours. If you have never been to the desert this is one to see, especially if you are able to do it by camel back.

A night in the desert I will never forget. I'm not sure it was on my bucket list but when the opportunity presented itself I took it and so glad I did. Just do it!

During cold period (November) warm clothes are needed for night. Also some light clothes for daytime and some accessories to protect your face from the sun, dust and winds (in case that is windy). On sand you can walk barefoot and it's recommended to walk like that in case you climb high dunes. If you don't climb to the top then you have lost the best part of your tour.
