Bushman is a family run business which consists of 8 chalets and a restaurant. It is located at the end of a stretch of beach, which makes it almost a `private' area (you don't get people walking past or in between the chalets, unlike some of the other resorts!)

The chalets are very clean, and a good size. We stayed in chalets 4 & 5. Both were meant to be family rooms. Chalet 4 sleeps 5 people (2 queen size beds and a single bed) very comfortably, and it has a sort of bedroom at the back (in case some privacy is needed). The room was equipped with a small fridge, dressing table and a wardrobe. Bedding was simple but comfortable. A clothes hanging line was available on the verandah which was very useful to hang out our wet clothes. The bathroom was clean, with an electric shower (hot water was available, but pressure was so-so). Chalet 5 sleeps 4 people - a bunkbed for 2 people, and a queen size bed.

The beach is right at your doorstep, and this part of the beach is good for swimming. Not so good for snorkelling though, as there arent much corals around. But Bushman can arrange snorkelling trips by boat if you are interested.

There's a little natural lagoon just in front of the chalets. When the tide is high, sea water from the beach enters the lagoon. When the tide is out, water from a nearby stream runs into it.

What was most impressive about Bushman's was an elderly gentlemean (I think he is the uncle of the manager/owner) who diligently sweeps the compound twice a day, so that there is no rubbish (not that there is much because everyone staying here are so environmentally conscious!) or fallen leaves around.

The restaurant is on the beach, providing a nice view of the sea. The menu is ofcourse limited, as with anywhere else on the island, but good enough to fill our bellies. Food is a mixture of local dishes (mainly rice) and some western/continental food like pasta, sandwiches and pizza. The restaurant opens between 8.30am to 3.00pm, the reopens for dinner at 7.00pm to 9.00pm daily. No alcohol is served. There is a collection of books and some board games to keep you entertained if you are tired from swimming.

A small convenience shop is available at Rainbow chalet nextdoor (about 20-30 metres away) and the dive centre of Tiong Man is about 50 metres away.

Affordable rooms and very worth every ringgit/sen you pay!

Room Tip: Chalet number 4

I booked two chalets on trust and sure enough, there was a truck to pick us up at the ferry as promised. On arrival, we were shown to our rooms and that was it! Big sign in the common area saying "closed until 18th" which was the day we were leaving. So no services at all, no food, nothing. In fact only the Chinese owned businesses were open and packed as a result. Some of the other places opened sporadically but overall if I had known this before arriving I could have made other choices.
It's their right to close during holidays, although a bit surprising in a tourist destination, but it's my right to be told beforehand.
Lastly during our time there the owner and his wife saw us but did not even say hello!

Room Tip: All about the same but away from the restaurant is quieter

Nice area. Great to relax. Nice beach. And quiet. We enjoyed our stay here very much.
Has a pick up service from tekek. (25rm pP)
Room has ac. Is furnished practical. Could have been a little bit brighter. The ocean view was hidden by a bunk bed. At night time some cockroaches. The second day staff gave us some spray.

Restaurant: nice and fairly priced. Serves good breakfast and fruits and many more

This place is truly a winner in juara/tioman. Family owned chalet with an amazing view. Chalet is clean comes with ac, fan and fridge at reasonable price. Food is sooo yummy. Do try their pizza. Staff is super friendly.. Book in advance to avoid disappointment as they have only 8 chalets. Juara is a bit quiet compared to others, just a lovely place for a retreat.
Room tip : last chalet no. 8, near small lagoon. have a dip at the lagoon when the tide is in. Its mindblowing.

Wonderful chalet that is equipped with everything you need. A balcony with sofa to enjoy the seaview, a broom for you to sweep off the sand in the room, clothing lines with hangers and clothes pegs to dry your swimming suits, fridge to keep the beer cold, a comfortable queen sized bed, clean toilet with hot shower and a pile and most importantly, air conditioner.

There are a total of 8 chalets and they are all beachfront. The beach at Bushman is the cleanest when compared to the others. Rental of lifejacket, fins and goggle are available at Bushman and you can go for snorkelling right in front of your chalet but there is nothing much to see.

Bushman cafe has the best and cheapest food in Juara. Try the banana pancake, I had one for every breakfast. Beware of the sandflies though, that's the only bad experience I had there. Oh, and the sunburn as well.
