PD Ostrich Show Farm

The experience was not really good as there were lots of mosquitoes, but overall you can have fun if you love animals and the quiet kampung feels.

Thank you 64azlanw for your visit and review. Unfortunately, the rainy season does cause more mosquitoes to be around as we are an outdoors park, surrounded on three sides by jungle. We do not use harsh insect repellents as this is not good for other animals, especially other insects, in the long run, and to our visitors, too. Other insects are necessary for the health of greenery.
As you noticed, we are like an a quiet kampung oasis in busy PD.

The establishment needs to be spruced up for the price it charges. Poorly maintained. And lacks activities.

Think kids gonna enjoy with the birds and animals. The Ostrich which you see is very old, if you want to see ostrich you will need to visit the Ostrich farm at Desaru. Just had small sneak inside the farm, its clean and no smell. The camel looks like it got some disease. There is ATV available nearby, after crossing the camel. It was fun though you can have couple of rounds on the muddy trail. There is a dog farm, simply some dogs comes and play with you, good for taking pics :).

If you expecting some action with Ostrich, then its no.Only 3 ostrich there.

Good to go with Kids.

Thank Arun K

Thank you, Arun, for your visit and review.
We don't know what you mean by having a "small sneak". I hope you didn't mean you went in without buying tickets so had to rush to avoid being asked by our staff why you didn't have wristbands on your wrist to indicate that you are not an intruder..
If you had a proper visit and not a "small sneak", you would have seen a large sign informing visitors that the first enclosure has Retired Very Old Ostriches. We do NOT slaughter ostriches or other large animals for meat, thus we have very old ostriches unlike other ostrich farms which slaughter the birds for meat.
If you had a proper visit and not a "small sneak", you would have seen other younger ostriches, from 4 months to 4 years, further down the farm (in front of the camel enclosure). We have placed these younger (and, obviously, more beautiful) ostriches further inside the farm to prevent non-paying visitors from having free small sneaks.
If you had a proper visit and not a "small sneak", you would have seen more than 25 ostriches and not three. We really cannot understand how you could have only seen three ostriches because even the 4-month-old ostriches are big. We really need to know your secret of not being able to see 25 ostriches but can tell that the camel has some kind of disease.
If you had a proper visit and not a "small sneak", you would have read a prominent sign informing about the camel, Jessy, which was rescued from the slaughter house and that it is an old animal. The wet weather is not kind to animals originating from desert climate so yes, we have to treat it for skin issues on a regular basis. No, it is not sick or have any kind of disease.
Unfortunately, there are an extremely small number people who come to the farm, try to sneak in or even stand atop their cars to peep into the farm. And, then, pass judgment (we have actually heard people who don't go in but peek from any point and make comments like "There's nothing to see"). It's sad and we wonder what kind of teaching by example they provide their children. We can only feel sorry and sad for their kids, and hope that they somehow grow up to be better adults and parents. Maintaining a farm is not cheap as it's labour intensive. We do hope that people would pay to enter or if they do not have the budget or do not wish to spend their money, to not cheat us as it affects the livelihood of workers. Worse, if they pass negative and unsubstantiated comments without actually having proper visits.
The dogs are pure breed dogs and this is a park specially for people who love dogs and wish to spend time with them.
The trail for ATVs is wet and muddy during the rainy season, dusty in dry weather. This is for ATV so it has to be as natural as possible.

My first impression sunk looking at the entrance.. But upon entering, we were greeted by this young boy called YUGEN. Such a wonderful and hospitable volunteer they have employed. He showed us around the farm the enitre duration and gave us such a warm feel. It is not like those MANDAI ZOO type of a place, but very Kampung feel.. MY children and myself had a very great time. Very reasonable price of MYR15 for foreigners. Only thing is that they should extend their cafetaria timings.Thank you for the great experience!

Thank you Praba for your visit and review.
Your feedback is great as we have been trying to keep the farm rustic to let visitors enjoy the kampung feel and not offer another concrete zoo or farm. We have kept concrete to the minimum and this effort is costing us more time, energy and money than if we go for the simple solution: concrete. Concrete is also bad for the joints of animals and for a show farm which has many old animals, earth ground is best.
Unfortunately, our kitchen has to close by 6pm as the staff start earlier, for food preparations. It would be too tiring for them to continue after 6pm as cleaning up takes up much time & energy, especially after a long day.

It's a nice and fun place but I really think farm must maintain the dogs park and bath the dogs weekly. They look hungry and dirty. And they got fleas on them
