“Great getaway - loved it!”
Reviewed 12 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to getaway from it all, this is the place.

Samawait is a three hour drive from Nairobi with scenic views once you get past Gilgil. The cottages are well built and snug and warm at night. The design of the house is creative - not something you see every day in Africa! The cottage was clean and well furnished. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to cook in.

I stayed for two nights on self catering basis. I loved watching the animals roam around - horses and friendly geese. You see a number of birds especially if you walk to the lake. The air is clean and the pace of life slows down.

Sheba is a great hostess - always available and helpful. I will be back - loved it.

Started with a nice Rd trip from Nairobi view of the Antelopes and the zebra on the Naivasha Gilgil area. To the great valleys and of the Nyahururu. Then Nyama choma at Ol-Kalou, a few minutes drive to Kasuku center for our groceries the place is self catering. It's located 7 Km off Kasuku center. We made a trip to Aberdares just a few kilometers away.

“Home away from home”

Beautiful place away from the hustle and noise of the rat race. The houses are wooden and pretty spacious in terms of space.

The place is self-catering. There is no meal plan on offer, but a chef is ready to make one's stay comfortable.

It gets pretty windy in the evenings and chilly at night. Dress warm and don't forget your hoodie for the evening strolls along the lake shore.

One thing to note is that the place is quite child unfriendly. The stair cases are steep spirals and slippery, therefore always mind your child. The directions from the main road are non-existant to one is forced to keep calling for route guidance. Garmin and Google maps all are uncharted here, so is Microsoft maps.

Amazing place, plus you get to learn a lot of history on the area. Its an easy place to go relax, forget about the world and all is going on.
Particularly amazing because of the setup. Its well thought out.
The view of the lake is to be relished.

If you are looking for a getaway from the noise of the City, this is the place to be. And if you want to discover a lake you didn't know existed in Kenya, this is also the place to be. The chalets are next to Lake Ol bolossat; literary a 5 minute walk away.

The self catering chalets are as good as the picture looks. For the kids, there is a huge compound to expend their energy on.

Best for me-The quiet.
