The hotel is run really well. The rooms are clean and well-equipped (free WiFi, refrigerator and microwave, YES cable service, good Tadiran air-conditioners for heating and cooling (ie efficient and not noisy). There is a little heated pool across an open patio - very pleasant (the pool is indoors). The hotel even has a few decent bicycles that you can borrow for two hours and check out the rest of the town. When we discovered that the refrigerator in our room didn't work, a repairman appeared and straightened out the problem within 10 minutes. Breakfast was delicious, and there was a wide selection of good-quality food to choose from. All the staff members we had contact with were very agreeable.
We stayed in a "mini suite"- bedroom, living room & full bath. Excellent value for money. Location was great - you can walk down one block and there you are at the promenade overlooking the crater.
I would definitely stay here again, EVEN though there are two basic problems. Number one: no elevator. If you get a room on the third floor, it is no fun lugging suitcases upstairs. Number two: the walls are very thin, and you can hear a lot more from your neighbors than you would want to.
