Great Resort, Beautiful Setting

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 6 May 2024
We stayed two nights in April in a large, well equiped villa with a small, virtually private pool - most welcome in the mini heatwave the area was experiencing. As there were 3 of us staying in one room we had booked an extra bed which, unusually, was really comfy. There were very few guests during our stay, we often felt we had the resort and it's beautiful gardens to ourselves, so much so that we were treated to an a la carte breakfast on our second morning as there were not enough of us to warrant the buffet. Massages at the Spa were fantastic and sundowners by the main pool before dinner were a highlight. The food was fabulous as was the service which was our experience throughout our trip to Vietnam. We wouldn't hesitate to come back to the Emeralda.

The room, the place is so beautiful with traditional and cultural style art from Ninh Binh. It is fully-equipped with everything the guest needs, very comfortable bed (a bit old and has noise), the room is not really noise isolation but still fine. There are many points for a good photos and really peaceful. The negative points are staffs when the hotel has reputation already and the staffs have been working for so long, so the customer service is not really good at all. I ask for a late check-out just a little bit because of sickness and it is 40 degrees outside, but the reception did not check for occupancy yet and denided immediately. So we ok with that, but at exactly that time she called bellman to our door and escorted us out, i think it is really rush for a holiday, meanwhile it is not that crowded and they have a lot of rooms to switch. Other than that the sales person Nhan is really rude to Vietnamese guest when I made a call to her. I think they should be more gentle and “think” for services even if they have reputation already. The resort is really nice which doesnt deserve to receive negative review.

We stayed two nights and had a lovely experience. The rooms are massive and very well-appointed. Ours had a private patio and an outdoor shower in a small garden off the very large bathroom. The pool by our room was clean and temperate and not busy so we were able to have a private swim. The larger pool by the restaurant and spa was busier.

We got massages and facials at the spa. They have a good menu of massage and facial care. Nguyen was terrific!

The bar is a nice place to enjoy a "bia" and sit to look at the sunset.

Really lovely setting for this stay and nice pool. Rooms were nice and some guests on our tour benefitted from the free buggy/shuttle service. Food in the restaurant and breakfast were lovely and plentiful. We rented a karaoke room, which was fun. Some wildlife around given the natural setting.

Vietnam is a very beautiful & culturally rich country. We visited Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, Da Nang & Ninh Binh on 11D/10N trip.
Hospitality, reception & local immersion was outstanding at all places (except Emeralda) - people were welcoming & hotel staff were very courteous.

Emeralda Resort at Ninh Binh was not so pleasant experience barring a few seasoned staff members. F&B Manager at Sen Restaurant (morning paid breakfast) declined to entertain vegan food request & puréed fruit for 7 month infant, She said Kitchen’s busy, we have a large group to cater to. After much explanation she managed to get a fried rice (that’s It!!) but for puréed fruit she denied & insisted I pay for it.

Organic Restaurant is good, couple of staff there (mostly women) were courteous. Pool Bar attendant had some issues, not even acknowledging the greetings.

Thanks to Ms Hung (Restaurant Manager), Mr Chung (Reception) & another Restaurant manager at Organic (missed her name) for making our stay bearable & manageable. They have a very wonderful property & spacious rooms, had the service been at par like other 4 & 5 star resorts; it would be an ideal location for tranquility.

Note: Vegan / Vegetarian food menu is limited & not allowed to buy food from outside.

Nice enough hotel where the options aren’t great. It was a little run down and pretty basic but we weren’t expecting grand luxury there. The grounds and gardens could have been beautiful but were unkept and gave the place a rather frumpy appearance. The employees were nice enough and I think tried to accommodate guests but were not particularly professional or efficient.
