We stayed in an upgraded room on the eighth floor, so I can only comment on this room category, which was about $90 per night. We had a living room and separate bedroom, each with a balcony with a view of the city and the Dnieper River. We had one full bath with tub and shower, and one half bath with sink and toilet. There was no shower curtain, but the bathroom was huge. We had a small refrigerator and a set of plates and cups. The tv is in the living room. The room was very clean and everything worked fine. Each floor has a concierge to take care of all your needs, including a hairdryer. Our room rate included a large hot breakfast served in what looked like a lounge that has not been updated since 1959. But service was prompt, courteous, and the food fine and plentiful.
This hotel has definitely seen better days, but they are upgrading it. It was an old Intourist Hotel during the Soviet days, and it still gives the aura of Soviet times.
The location can't be beat. It is on one end of the main street, a block from the waterfront promenade, It is within walking distance of downtown, or a short cab ride to the train station. There is a new restaurant across the street, with more being built.
We felt completely safe here. There are guards in the lobby at all hours. Also, the room was quiet. This is not a 5-star hotel, but the only downside is with it's general shabbiness due to being in a very poor country. The staff was very friendly. We loved our stay!
