I really have a lot to say about this resort! From the pictures and reviews you get the impression of the most charming and well kept resort. But the reality is far from that.

Charm Churee was a huge disappointment due to the all over poor state and almost total lack of maintenance of the buildings. What once must have been a charming resort close both to nature and the business at Sairee, now appears more like a abandoned village. As an Angkor Wat on its way to be engulfed by the jungle.

So what to do when your product is falling apart because of aging and bad maintenance? What about calling it: "Rustic Resort"? As if this depressing reality is a part of a clever plan offering something different, rather than being a sad proof of a mismanaged business.

Because, rotten terrace floors are not rustic, only dangerous. Falling fences and garbage floating around in the garden and at the beach, either not. Leaking straw roofs falling apart are not charming but most annoying and depressing. Plastic cover on top of the straws helps a little against the rain, but kills what's left of charm.

Staying in Charm Churee was a constant feeling of being disrespected as a guest. As if not being able to distinguish between a "charmy, rustic" and a totally dilapidated resort. Sitting almost alone in the once so fancy restaurant now falling apart, or not having that massage or diving trip as announced because everything was closed being off season, is not charming at all.

Because slippers, bathrobe and free razors can never compensate for the feeling of being fooled. Specially when everything is totally overpriced.

stayed in a deluxe room (#62) for 3 nights in early August. The rooms are massive with a netted 4 poster bed and traditional Thai crafted heavy wood furniture.the Bath room one of the largest I have seen with colourful/cheerfull tiles/painting and rather unusually included a bidet, AND to my delight a "urinal" for men.... three balcony was massive and included a sitting area and a separate sun bed area.. the grudge, coffee etc are located in the balcony with a wonderful view of the sea. Being on a hill slope means navigating steps from the room to the restaurants, breach etc.which i didn't mind since they are all right on the sea and offered magnificent views. The location is excellent being near town (20 minute walk or 5 minutes on scooter)..
.. the downside was attention to maintenance details.. the shower head didn't live up to expectation, the basin was blocked and drainage leaked, no tv, internet in room not strong, only one (old fashion)key ( no key card) is offered for double occupancy, old fashioned safety box (easily from the 60's) that got stuck. Breakfast was ok, and restaurant food is average. The beach is a long walk down, very small with limited sun beds (didn't use it).
I would have given it 4.5 star if the issued mentioned are resolved, otherwise its a 3.5 for the room alone and friendly staff..
Overall, enjoyed o the stay for the duration, but would not stay longer and moved to Assva Dive Center on chelok Baan (please see me rehire on Assava).

The management here is top notch. Took care of an immediate concern and made our 4 day stay quite wonderful. On site service is exactly what it should be. Mellow, but attentive. Great beach for intermediate fish spotting. Easy in and out with taxis to town and shuttles to ferries. Make sure that you can walk steep inclines and not get too winded before booking here, especially in the heat. The guys carrying bags here are tops and I made sure to tip them well.

Great location and service but the rooms are very old fashioned and need an update for the price you pay. The breakfast was great every morning and the view was amazing! There is a private beach you can walk to that serves amazing food aswel.

Great stay but rooms need an update!
