Due to negative reviews on all the other available hotels in Phi Phi - I've choosen palmtree. The hotel isn't very fancy - it has a really nice pool but the room facilities aren't in a very good condition. The bed is not very comfortable and the hot water are not really hot.
The biggest pro is it is centrally located in the middle of the island making it easy to get everywhere. The biggest con is it requires 10 minutes walk to get to the beach.
The breakfast was nice - offering omlette chef, and serving coffee.
I was suprised to be requested to wait on check-out for room inspection - to make sure I didn't break anything.
Comparing to the other options on the island - this hotel is OK+. Don't expect luxury - just nice base for exploring the island.

We stayed at room 320 as a couple.
I really recommand it but give a thought to these next points:

Cons:
The smell from all the restaurants around (take the ground rooms)

The stairs! We had a 25kg we had to lift by ourselves

Had to pay extra 1000bat to extend our stay for 3 hours ( since i suffered from a food poison a night ahead)

Lack of beach - but we knew this ahead

Pros:
Location awsome - center of it all
Clean - very clean and taken care of
Breakfast - very very good!!
Staff - very nice
Guard - there is someone at the front desk 24/7
Value - worth better than most of the islands hotels... Not 2 expensive and very good

P.s: its my second time there and i will be back for sure (just take a ground room!!)

We went to Phi Phi for 3 nights as a mini-break away from Phuket. It is a beautiful place and I would highly recommend going. In fact, I wish we had stayed for longer... Here are some points to consider when deciding whether or not to book a room at P P Palm Tree Resort:

- It's in a great location if you want to be in the middle of things. It's only 5 mins from the boat jetty, all the shops and bars and a beautiful beach is just up the road.
- Although the hotel is in the thick of it, it's still quiet at night as they have strict rules about having no visitors to the hotel after 22.00.
- They only issue you with one key on check-in, unless you specify that you need two. Make sure you ask for two if you want to keep the aircon on, or put things on charge while you're not in the room (as we did), because the card also connects the power in the room. It wasn't a major problem, but inconvenient. Better to have two keys.
- Breakfast was the usual buffet style, and there was an egg station for freshly made eggs, omelettes etc. There can be a lack of tables at busy times, one morning we had to wait before we could be seated. But overall, the breakfast is good.
- It's a non-smoking hotel, which was fine for us as neither of us smoke, but if you do it's a no smoking hotel so that's worth bearing in mind.
- There's free wifi.
- There's a fridge in the room with free tea, coffee and water, but no mini-bar.
- There are limited sunbeds by the pool, so be quick or you'll miss out, although the pool itself is nice, with massage jets at one end. However, there is a pool swim-up bar that wasn't in use while we were there and seems like it hasn't been used for a while. In fact, there is no bar at the hotel at all.
- If you are checking out at 11.00, but not catching the ferry until later, you are allowed to leave your luggage in a storage room there. There are also showers by the pool if you want to freshen up before heading to the ferry.
- There is a TV in the room, but no satellite channels and no USB connectivity if you normally use that.
- The beds are a little on the hard side, but I guess that's down to personal preference.
- The rooms are clean, although a little on the small side, and the bathrooms are slightly dated, but pretty standard for Thailand.

Overall, we had a lovely stay at P P Palm Tree Resort. We would stay there again, but there are a few things they could tweak to make it better.

Good location right in the centre, is a little bit expensive for what you get thought. We stayed for 5 nights, 2 nights in a room by the pool which was great. We then stayed in a standard room on the second floor and our view from the balcony was a wall with a "view" painted on it which was ridiculous! Was a bit loud then as it was near the cleaners station so you could hear the radios at 8am first thing. The staff were not as friendly as most people we encountered on our trip to Thailand. One thing that annoyed me was when we checked out they couldn't find one of the small towels in our room, not sure where it went but they charged us for it which after paying for 5 nights in total I thought it was in bad taste by them. I would probably stay elsewhere next time but it wasn't bad if you are looking for somewhere central.

Room tip: choose a room by the pool

It's quite expensive, but this hotel is in a great location right in the centre of things. We were lucky to get a room on the third floor facing into the inner courtyard. This meant the room was surprisingly quiet for its location.
The room was nice and clean and the pool was lovely and relaxing. We also found the staff very friendly, despite some of the other reviews on here.

Room tip: Ask for a room on the top floor facing into the inner courtyard / pool. You should then get a quiet night's sleep!
