Visited Crave tonight as part of our honeymoon; and what a food highlight! Before I get started on the actual food; I just wanted to draw attention to the cleanliness and hygiene standards of this restaurant. We've generally found these to be of a lower standard on our visit to Thailand but I can categorically say that this is not the case with Crave; the establishment (and facilities; amazing) were spotless! As someone who has been very ill over here; this was a total relief and immediately made me feel at ease.
We were greeted by the owner; a very charismatic and interesting man clearly very passionate about cooking and food. Our kind of guy! I knew straight off we were in for a treat of an evening! We were seated in the superb lounge area; I won't say too much apart from when offered the option say yes; it beats a conventional table any day. We perused the menu; I'm off the alcohol at the moment but there's an amazing alternative soft drink menu which is made in house; I strongly recommend to try the passion fruit soda; it's delicious and a perfect accompaniment to the cloying evening heat.
After taking some time to review the menu and talking it through (very important choices) we chose to share the cheese and jalapeño quesadillas and chicken nuggets. Both perfectly cooked; with a side of lovely sauces. For mains I chose the Philly burger; with beef cheese sauce peppers mushroom and onion and my husband had a blue cheese burger. We chose to have these with poutine; a well kept Canadian secret that is yet to whisper across the Atlantic to Sheffield; so we had no idea what it was. This was explained to us as chips; cheese and gravy. I couldn't believe I had never heard of this culinary delight before; this was right up my street! When it arrived it was perfection; and probably one of the best meals I've ever had ❤️ I'm now completely won over by poutine; the new love of my life!
We then retired to our comfy lounge area to play cards and yawn; a sign of an amazing food coma. We weren't made to feel rushed in the slightest; and just idled away the evening playing cards and listening to the fantastic music choices in the background (think simply red; al green; alesha keys etc; a wonderful mix of classics). We then decided to try a dessert; a chocolate brownie. Still warm;gooey and delicious and delivered on every level!
This is a wonderful place and without a doubt some of the best food I've ever had (that's worldwide not just Thailand); with a fantastic ambience to match. I would fully recommend a visit but please bring your appetite (after 3 days this week without any appetite or food this was like going to heaven!) and it's a lovely place for families; couples and friends a like. I would highly recommend the poutine; it was fabulous. Thank you very much for having us; and we would love to visit again! The highlight of our honeymoon!
