Having read some reviews on this place, I was pleasantly surprised with my stay. The rooms to start with are large, well decorated and clean with comfortable beds, lovely bathrooms and good desk and surface space. Safe as standard. Free water everyday. On our trip, the staff at andalay were the best we had! The guy that checked us in was very friendly and funny, we got on very well with him and he helped us with any query we had. The other staff all seem very happy and smiley, and again helped with queries about the local area and found us tour companies open in low season, and booking them for us. Great staff service, from waitresses to cleaners we have no complains. The patio area that each room has is a pleasant addition, there wasn't any mosquitos in June and you can comfortably sit out on an evening. Overall the pool area is nice and clean, the foliage and palm trees give the place a lovely green tranquil look. However look a bit closer and you can see this place needs a bit of TLC. The water in the moats around the rooms is filthy, and the plants and foliage is all dead or dying which is a shame. A general lick of paint around the buildings also wouldn't go amiss, but these things really aren't too big an issue and won't spoil anything. The restaurant serves some really good food, is open all day and has a lot of variety. We ate for lunch and dinner and weren't disappointed! I've read this stretch of beach is supposed to be very good, however in low season none of the beach front bars and hotels clean up their share of the beach, and it was filthy, trash as far as the eye could see. Really disappointing. Wifi is decent, tends to slow down and speed up every now and then, but it's okay. Overall this place is a pleasant small hotel with good service. By the sound of reviews from the past, I think this place may be trying to pull itself around, we had no issue with smells or unclean rooms. it's well worth giving andalay boutique a chance.

We stayed here during low season, so the resort and whole island were fairly quiet. The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff are very friendly. The food isn't great, but that's not an issue when there's so many great places to eat nearby (we loved Blue Moon.) Overall, an enjoyable stay.

Friendly staff. Good to children. Big and clean rooms. But food not good. Fruit and vegetables tasted old...got sick.. breakfast a la carte. Eggs tasted like pancakes. Maybe clean the pan before making other dish..but if you go out and eat the resort is very nice. We were there with bad weather. Beach not good for swim. Remarkable koh lanta is very dirty. A lot of rubish..still have to pay 10bath to keep koh Lanta clean..offff course they do!!!!

The hotel is located on the non-rocky part of Klong Nin beach. The pool is nice and overlooks the beach. As of now, the hotel has adequate sun loungers, umbrellas, and beach chairs for all. We never had a problem finding somewhere to sit in the five days we were there.
Lunch and dinner were very tasty. My Thai friend gave the food two thumbs up. However, everyone who said breakfast was lacking is quite correct. Bread was stale; fruit was under or over-ripe. Noodle dishes were gummy and the sausage had a weird texture. The made to order eggs and omelets were tasty, however, and we discovered that you could order khao thom (rice soup) as well.
Bring a flashlight and some candles as the rooms are DARK. The pinpoint lights just do not provide enough illumination. We had a beachfront room. In reality, there is nothing in front of you but the beach, but the room is set far back from the sand. The room was spacious, but lacking several items. As previously stated, lighting. Also, there is no drying rack for your beach towel and/or swimwear. There is also a lack of places in the bathroom to hang your wet personal towels. No mosquito coils are provided or placed outside your door in the evening. The rain shower head was rusted, shot water off in several directions, and desperately needed cleaning. Lighting was very dim in the bathroom as well, giving it an inadvertent ambiance if you showered after sunset. The main issue for the room was the bed. It was hard as a rock. After the first night, they brought us a tissue thin mattress topper. After the second night, we had three duvets under the fitted sheet. It still did not help. You know it is bad when you fondly remember the bed in a two star Chinese hotel in the middle of nowhere, China as being more comfortable.
Their massage spot, "Massage by the Sea" is excellent. We tried a couple of places in Klong Nin, but preferred the massage at the hotel and used them three times.
The staff was excellent, kind, friendly, and very helpful. They along with lunch, dinner, massage, pool, and location were the high points.
I almost forgot the wifi. It was awful. After waiting for anything to load for half an hour, I turned it off and used my Thai cellular provider for the rest of the time. If you want fast wifi, go next door to the Horizon bar.

Anda Lay hotel is an old hotel placed very close to a noicey Road, which defenetly has a negative effekt on your sleep.
The hotel has about 20 rooms, and only 12 sunbeds, and 8 sunchairs, so at 7.00 AM there Were no place to get. At the secondat Day of our stay, I had an unplesant diskussion with the hotelmanager about this, with a reaktion from him
I Will not put on wrighting.
But I dont know if it Was that diskussion or not that resulteret in that there after an other couple of days came an other 10 sunchairs,so there came a besætter balance in nummer of rooms and the nummer of sunchairs. Well done manager!
We Got room 101 which is absolutely hopeless placed behind the restaurant with no seaview at all, but with all the guests looking directly in to our room. Don't accept room 101. The drain from the shower Was stoped and When I mentioned it in the reception They Said, that I had to live with it as the problem Was, that the tube in the drain Was to small, and They had to break up the floor if They should solve the problem !!
But there are also positive things to mention about the hotel.
The staff in the restaurant Were Nice to US, and the breakfast Was ok but simple.
The Best thing to say about this hotel is the that it is placed on a very good beach, with a lot of bars and restaurants close to.
Try the Mojitos at Majestic bar 300 meters South of Andalay, They are fantastic.
And try Yong GardenRestaurant
I would be glad to go back to the Klong beach, but I would Never stay at Anda Lay hotel again.

Room Tip: Don't accept room 101 at all.
