We just spent a wonderful week in this house. It was perfect for our group - 3 families / 15 people total.
Accommodations: Great! 4 totally equal master bedrooms - all facing the water with the same set up. And then a bunk room with 3 bunks stacked (bottom sleeps 2) plus a loft in the same room. The bunks are sturdy and comfortable and it was a great room for a bunch of kids. Some of us used the AC units in the bedrooms at night, and they worked very well. The main living area completely opens up to the pool and deck making for great indoor/outdoor living with plenty of sunny and shady spots to sit. The kids had a great time in the pool, which are difficult to find in private homes there. Everything (including fridge) worked beautifully.
Beach: The fact that we could walk straight into the water and have world class snorkeling without even getting into a car or onto a boat was pretty sweet. Once you swim out of the little bay, the reef is simply amazing. Kids spent quite a bit of time on the dock playing games and jumping in.
Location: Fabulous. 5 minute drive into West End which is the perfect mix of local color, expat scene, sunset bars, taco stands, as well as a few great sit down restaurants. Also quick drive to ziplining, dive boats, parasailing, fishing boats, etc. We also did the quick 20 minute drive to the ferry station and checked out the mainland one day (rafting in a national park).
The best part was the lovely owners, who were very helpful the entire time we were down there. They came by every day to check on things, answered questions via phone and text almost immediately, made restaurant reservations for us, introduced us to great tour operators (fishing boat, etc.), and gave us tips and guidance on everything from activities to ATMs to groceries. It was clear they love Roatan and this house and we felt fortunate to have found it! It's the people that really make the experience, and they were five star.
We stayed at this beautiful home over the holidays and absolutely loved it. The home is situated directly on the beach and is located in a nice cove with a dock our children loved to jump, flip and dive off of into the water. The dock was also very convenient because the dive center would pick us up on our dock with everything ready to go for scuba. The location is very good - a short drive to the West End and a lot of good little restaurants and shops. It's the perfect house for several families. We had three families and our parents, which meant that all the adults had a master bedroom and our children shared the bunk room, which is huge and set up perfectly for children. The owner, Tanya, was very accommodating and the staff was excellent - Ron is the house manager and he was very helpful in getting reservations and making recommendations. There was also a nice woman who did the wash and cleaned the house very thoroughly twice during our stay and a groundskeeper who came daily and raked the beach and helped with little things here and there (like carrying in the groceries). We also enjoyed the paddle boards. I would highly recommend Vivaro to anyone traveling with more than one family.
