We stayed in units 6 and our adult children unit 1. Both units were excellent. Location, location, location. The beach and ocean were awesome. Main pool and our roof top pool was used a lot. The condos were well equipped. Really nice to have bathrooms for every person. The washer and dryers also came in very handy. The water in the tap was used and no one had any issues. We did the short walk into West End at least a couple of times per day. Even late at night we felt very safe. Would recommend taking a couple of flashlights (although the units did have 1) for the walk home at night. Restaurants had good food in West End. In most restaurants, there service was slow but we were on vacation. The Oasis, the Tai were our 2 favourite. Do NOT try the Lighthouse restaurant service was the worst ever.
There was a maintanence man (L Jay) was very friendly and kept the place absolutely SPOTLESS. There is a security man at night as well and while he did not speak English he was very friendly and it made us feel very safe.
I am very glad we stayed here instead of West Bay because it was much more laid back and it was still easy to get to West Bay and be with all the other tourists. West End has character. The grocery store (Woody's) had basic supplies enough to keep us going for sure. We did a major grocery stop at Eldens when we arrived before checking in which is a very good idea. There is lots of fridge and freezer room for all your supplies.
Lastly, Roatan Vacations were fantastic to deal with. From the very first connections, they were quick to reply, also kept us in the loop with things happening, organized our driver to and from the airport, checked us in very efficiently and showed up to get our feedback on check out. Very professional and great service.
Must dos in Roatan, Little French Key, Gumbialia Park, snorkeling (Ronny has a boat right by the property at a very good price) and golf.

“I'll go back to Villa del Playa”
Reviewed 14 December 2013 for a stay in December 2013

We returned home yesterday from 4 great nights at Villa del Playa #6. It was just my wife and I. We had a complete blast and hope to return with our kids next year. The other reviews are mostly accurate on some negatives. A slight mildew smell the first day we arrived. Roofdeck kitchen needs a little work. Wifi connection was spotty at best in the condo, but honestly, we did not mind any of it. The pros far outweigh the cons. Instead of complaining about the wifi I decided to leave my laptop off and ignore the business I own. The unit had been empty before our arrival and due to the outrageous cost of electricity in Honduras, I'm sure they leave the AC off. We did not notice the smell the second day. The upstairs kitchen is exposed to the salt air, so even brand name stainless appliances will develop surface rust. Sadly we did not have anyone to entertain up there, but we could imagine incredible dinner parties with large groups on the roof.

We really enjoyed the glass bottom kayaks and were very active in them snorkeling and paddling our way to West Bay and back on the sunny days. The daytime caretaker and night watchman were great. There is a slight walk down the beach to West End that can be a little scary late at night, but we had no problems. We were celebrating our first trip away from the kids in a long time and closed the West End bars 2 of our 4 nights. If I go back, I will ask the night watchman for his cel phone number (assuming he has one) and call him to meet us at the end of the main road in West End to walk home with us as a precaution that late at night. Fortunately we had NO scary moments. West End felt safe. It was really nice having him on the premises at night this week because we were the only ones staying in the building. He was very friendly and my wife would take him some food and diet coke when we arrived home late.

The place was clean with modern appliances. The only things keeping me from giving it 5 out of 5 is the internet and slight smell on day 1. If a grade of 4.9 was an option I would give it.
