Lovely getaway but not a work environment

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 May 2017
The room décor was lovely, but the lighting from local light fixtures was subdued (soothing, but hard to read or do any work with minimal lighting--it felt like I was living in a different pre-electric era) and there was no table at all to work on. The wind whistling in through the wooden-slatted windows added charm to the location. Just don't plan to get any serious work done while there unless you work in daylight hours down on the patio or dining room tables.

went to Bahareya oasis last month, we a organized group, our hotel of choice was Qasr El Bawity. we chose the hotel based on the reviews and pictures on trip advisor, we were happy to find it exactly as we expected, warm and welcoming. we were met by Mahmoud and Said who are locals of bahareya oasis, they showed us different room styles and we choose from them. the rooms are simple but clean and comfortable, no tv, Ac or telephone, which was really great as we came to relax and stay away from the stress of Cairo.
Mahmoud prepared for us a BBQ dinner in the mountains which was really appreciated.
Overall our stay was outstanding and thanks mainly to the crew, Mahmoud, Said and Mostafa.
We were the only guests in the hotel, when we asked why, mahmoud told us that the unfortunate events in Egypt left bahareya oasis as a ghost town. hopefully tourism will return to this amazing place soon.

Room tip: old suits have more character

Qasr is an extremely pretty place with a character to boast. It has so much peace to offer in its simplicity.
Unfortunately due to the dip in tourism, the place isn't being kept as well as previously, yet we totally loved it. When we visited in the October we were the only ones to occupy the whole resort. We couldn't use the hot spring pool which is now laden with moss.
Apart from this our stay was perfect. Comfortable and warm. The 3 care takers Mustafa, Mohamad and (I forget the name) are amazing people. They took great care of us and served us yummy heart warming food.
Qasr is a prefect place to rewind and get away from the crazy city life.

We stayed for 2 days, and honestly had the best time!
A very simple yet beautiful place! Our rooms were right next to the indoors hot spring which is must try, the rooms have a nice atmosphere but the bed isnt too comfortable. There's an outdoors hot spring which we unfortunately couldn't use as there were workers in it and there's a pool but it did not look very promising (but why would you want a pool when you have amazing hot springs?)
The hotel has a very authentic and cosy atmosphere, we felt right at home there.
The food was also very good, we had a bedouin dessert called Sett Abouha which was delicious. The staff are very hospitable and friendly. having bedouin tea by the campfire at night while watching the stars was a highlight. :) would definitely go again.

the entire western desert is a must visit, the vast desert span is really impressive, we booked a group tour with oasis expeditions and our overnight stay in bahareya oasis was at Qasr El Bawity. the hotel design suits the surrounding environment, the rooms are comfortable and the palm trees are pleasent to lay under. we played volley ball on the sand which was a very nice experience. we tryed Fatir at breakfast mixed with palm honey. dinner was BBQ lamb very tasty.
the staff at the hotel were very welcoming and tryed their best to help us as much as they could.
i wish we could have stayed longer at this paradise oasis.

the hotel is a comfortable place that shows the original Bedouin life and leave you the chance to live it. It's a great place for meditation away from the capital noise, with the natural beauty surrounding you as it's placed under a mountain. plus, the hotel provides very good programs as BBQ in the desert, and visits to the spots there.
