Went early in the day and found out most of the shops open in the afternoon. There were security officers about every 50 meters lining the street hill to the top of the hill to ensure safety of visitors to the area.

We visited this Hill and it is OK, but not exciting or historic for us. We went at night, so we got great pictures of the Malecon and the Ferris Wheel.

...if you want to take the 445 stairs that will lead you to the last level of this trip. Picturesque experience, very nice view from the top. It worth also visiting the church and "Il Pharo" once you managed to arrive up. It is very safe as long as you stay on the secured area (you can see the number of the stairs and this is the best way to stay safe). If you need a moment of rest, you can enjoy a beer on one of the numerous bars on the way. Recommended!

Nice view from the top, young couple like to hang out there. Polices in every corner. But don't except you can find a nice restaurant to eat. And only 444 steps to the top...

Quite a beautiful, small church at the top of the hill where El Faro de Guayaquil resides. The interior has gorgeous stain glass windows and it’s a great place to stop and contemplate. The views from right outside the church are quite nice, overlooking the city. Definitely worth the 444 steps to get to.
