“Good accommodation, great location!”
Reviewed 21 November 2011

The accommodation was reasonably easy to find as we have stayed in Trogir previously and had a rough idea of the location. We rang the agency when we arrived outside the Villa and someone arrived in 5 minutes as the agency is only a short distance away. We were given the choice of 3 rooms and choose the one on the 1st floor. There is no lift in the building. The room had twin beds, bedside cabinet, wardrobe and table with 2 chairs. We were self catering and this was useful. On the top floor there is a terrace for everyone's use and this is where we ate our breakfast. We paid at the agency. We were here right at the end of September and some of the restaurants and cafes were closing down for the season. The main square was practically deserted on Friday, September 30th!
On our last day we had an evening flight and we were able to leave our luggage in the agency till we needed to go to the airport. It was great staying in a this old house which is part of a world UNESCO heritage site. Another good reason to choose Trogir is the proximity to the airport. We were able to catch the No 37 bus from the Trogir bus station and this only costs 16kn which is helpful if people are on a budget, rather than taking a taxi. As a previous contributor had mentioned a small fridge would be useful. However, we would stay here again.

My friend & I recently spent 5 nights at Villa Ruzica & thoroughly enjoyed our stay in wonderful Trogir. We had planned to stay in Split & a Dalmatian friend suggested we might prefer Trogir so we took his advice & were so pleased we had. Split should definitely be visited, but a day trip there is quite enough, far better to relax in the Old Town of Trogir. Villa Ruzica initially seems difficult to find as there are numerous narrow alleys to explore, but it is actually quite easy & is very near the gate to the Old Town. Our room was simply furnished, but comfortable & it was very useful to have the table & chairs to sit on instead of having to use your bed. The bathroom was small, but spotless & perfectly adequate - we were amazed to discover the towels were changed each day! The only improvement I would suggest is access to a fridge - maybe one for guests' use in the downstairs entry area as it would have been helpful to be able to keep water cold & to store yoghurt & cheese.
We didn't use the roof terrace as it was so hot when we were there & there was no shelter, sail or umbrella - a shame as we had been looking forward to that.
Trogir is utterly delightful, with a fabulous market, numerous restaurants & cafes & the area of the Old Town has some wonderful buildings & churches. I would also recommend day trips to Sibenik, Priosten & Krka National Park while there as they are all accessible by bus & the bus station is only a couple of hundred meters away over the bridge & across the road from the market.

Trogir is a great destination...although rather busy in peak season, and food and drink is not as cheap as led to expect. Villa Ruzica is in a good location on the tiny island of Trogir, which you can walk around in about 15 mins. The room was nice and clean and recently decorated. The air conditioning worked well and was a welcome relief to the 40 degree heat outside! There is a nice outdoor roof terrace - it is communal, but we were the only ones that used it when we were there...great place to eat breakfast/brunch. Trogir is a short taxi ride from Split airport, and is a good base to explore the surrounding islands. You can also hire boats for 70euro per day, which is a nice relaxing way to spend a day.
