Korcula and Peljesac with Wine Tasting Private Day Trip from Dubrovnik

The Old City of Korcula was buzzing with tourists on the day of our visit. Many of the tourists were to be found in the vicinity of the Marco Polo House.
A little bit of research and interpretation showed that the connections between this house and Marco Polo are somewhat tenuous. In any case there is not much at all to be seen at the house. The most unique aspect of the house is its modest tower. The tower appeared to attract the most attention with many visitors taking the time to climb the steps up to the viewing area.
The Marco Polo House could best be described as a "tourist trap".

Just one old stairway to the tower which can fit about 6 people with not brilliant views! bit of a waste of money.

Before visiting the Marco Polo Museum in Korcula, we visited the house where people from Korcula say that Marco Polo was born. There is some controversy over whether he was born in Korcula or in Venice. It was very interesting to visit the house and also see a section which is in ruins. The stairs are quite steep and narrow.

Its not so easy to find and not worth the effort apart from the fact that its a bit of a vantage point for a view over the old city. There is nothing there of note and did Marco really live there??? He must have been awfully cramped if he did - no wonder he went off exploring.

So sad, there is nothing very interesting to see, just a 2-floor house (very very tiny floors) with no furniture, nothing, just 2 or 3 panels explaining few things about Marco Polo. The good thing is the beautiful view from the top of the house, but that's all... They could have done really better!
