Charming place in a charming village, but service inadequate. Our room was rather small and had a metal bed with a foot board the had fire-iron like extensions that are sure to smash your knees often. Adequate cold breakfast buffet but no service nor ability to order a hot entry. Restaurant is also mediocre.

We visited La Grisa for the second time in September this year. The hotel is an old renovated building which has very tastefully been renovated with no expense spared. The rooms are beautiful and extremely clean with every care in their comfort for the guests. The staff are very pleasant and helpful so combined with a fantastic restuarant with a first class chef, the hotel offers everything we needed for a good stay. The negative side for senior, less able guests is that there is no lift, which we were told was lack of planning permission in such a building. This we did not mind as we were offered a room with not too many stairs and our luggage was transported to our room for us. Fantastic service!

The hotel is placed in a few old renovated hauses in the beautifull village Bale. It is renovated in a modern way, yet they manage to keep the traditional look. Rooms are large and nice decorated.Breakfast offers a great choice of food with a lot of local products. The hotel also has a restaurant with very good food ( I recomend the istrian plate for the starter) and they have a nice collection of local wines. The Bale village is one of the most beautiful in Istra. Be shure to visit the shops that sells local olive oil.I can highly recomend the hotel to everyone.

We had had a full day of sightseeing and had chosen this small little hamlet, not know what we were in for. Wow, what a surprise. We arrived at the La Grisa and it was perfect. The property was very modern on the inside but looked rustic on the outside. The room was fabulous. Large space, great bathroom, very quiet. It was just a few feet from the main square of town but because Bale is so small, location was not an issue. We walked around at night; had a great meal at the Jazz club, then stopped by the open concert in the center square. It was wonderful.

I would suggest that if you are staying try spend two days or arrive in the morning to make your way to the beach area not far away. We did not and regret it. The town is
Rabac. The breakfast is very good. If you want something from the kitchen instead of the buffet items just ask. Top notch breakfast.

This is a great place to stay and visit; we would definitely return.

We visited La Grisa for dinner and were shown to a table on a terrace overlooking the valley. We sipped our Aperol Spritz whilst watching the sunset, and the pink light reflecting of the Medieval walls of Bale. Excellent service particularly from Luca our waiter who dealt with our lengthy questions and high spirited children with great English and a sense of humour. The shellfish platter was ridiculously fresh and well prepared, my companions said their steaks were close to perfection and even the kids meals had been prepared with care. Sadly my Seabream was very overdone. The chocolate Soufflé (fondant) was infused with orange and served with blood orange parfait. Dessert heaven.
