Utterly inefficient air-conditioning and rather poor breakfast detracted from an otherwise good stay here. The pros: Firstly, good location. A convenient 12-13 yuan taxi drive from the old city, about a fifteen minute walk. (we walked while going, and took a taxi back, late in the evening on our return, when we were exhausted !!). If you want to go by taxi both ways, the front desk will organise it for you. Secondly, a big and really well-furnished room. Thirdly, a small point, but one that every hotel should emulate: we were all given a small card with directions in English and Chinese, to show taxi drivers, to go to various locations in and around town. Fourthly, something I need not really mention, but I will: as in ALL our hotels in China, superb staff. Friendly, cheerful, helpful, and most welcoming. Now, sadly the cons: First, the air-conditioning. Despite our best efforts, we could not make it work. As a result our three nights here were somewhat unpleasant. Secondly, the breakfast was rather poor. The menu did not feature even fried eggs, let alone omelettes, or scrambled eggs... So much so, our poor tour guide had to specially organise fried eggs for each of us in the morning. Even water was scarce at breakfast, just some lousy fruit juice. The coffee was simply awful. Despite these irritations, I would probably stay here if I visited Lijiang again, because it is so very conveniently located! Our tour operator Wendy Wu chose this hotel. We paid an all-inclusive fee, but on leaving I asked the front desk the room rate, and was pleasantly surprised to find how cheap it was! Please also see my comprehensive report on Wendy Wu as a tour operator.

Room Tip: Any room ought to be equally good!

Nice hotel in a convenient position for some shopping, just watch the mopeds on the 'Zebra' crossings!!
Large lobby with lots of seating, no bar but they don't mind you consuming your own in the lobby. The rooms are spacious and clean, beds are hard but not an issue.
Used two of the restaurants, one was not the best with basic food. The other was buzzing and served great food with a great feel about it.
Would definitely return given the opportunity.

The room was fine, the bed was hard (which I don't mind), the air-con wasn't effective (which is the norm as it is centrally controlled), breakfast was fine if you enjoy Chinese in the morning otherwise it was pretty limited. Location wise it was only a 15Y taxi ride from the old town.

Lijang's old quarter is very pretty, some would say too pretty, as it appears to be full of shops and restaurants with no residents. Still it is worth seeing. The Adange Hotel is situated in the modern district of the city and it is a perfectly adequate hotel. The room was comfortable and the breakfast adequate. The first two days there was some cosmetic company convention, so the restaurant at breakfast was a scrum. The hotel is well situated for shopping for jade, snacks, and other things. Perfectly adequate hotel in a very pleasant city.

We stayed in the Adange Hotel, Lijiang after a very iffy experience in Shangri-La and we were delighted that, as a hotel, we were able to rate it highly.
What I cannot comment on is its location. Although we stayed in Lijiang for two nights, our full day was fairly full on, so we did not go out of the hotel at all.
We had a lovely room with free wi-fi, two bottles of free water and the best shower that we had in our 9 hotels in China. Negatives were that the hotel did not have a bar, and on the first morning, the breakfast room was full and absolutely manic, so much so, that food was running out, being restocked (after a while/wait) and then running out again within a minute. The second morning was much more relaxed.
As per all our Chinese hotels, the bed was hard.
