We finally got to eat here on a hot Saturday. We reached here by 14:00 hrs but had to wait for nearly 45 minutes to get a table. The restaurant closes by 15:00 hrs so expect quite a rush between 13:00 - 14:30 hrs. The 'waiting' part was unbearable specially on a very very hot day.

Coming to the food part, the preparation was nice, simple, filling and reasonable. The menu changes everyday and one gets to choose from two options comprising salad, mains and sweets. For a fixed price we got a portion of salad, fresh juice, a small portion of rice, dal (lentils, feijoada), fritters, other side dishes (all dry) and sweets (sweets can be chosen from a number of options including both Indian and continental options.

Gopala Hari is only open for lunch and it is always crowded, for good reason. The food, vegetarian with a strong Indian twist, is excellent and quite reasonably priced. I had a combo that included a salad, main course (four cheese artichoke lasagna) with two sides, dessert, and a grapefruit-based drink (bottomless) for 39 BRL (about 13 USD). When you arrive they take your name, as there is always a wait, and you can sample some teas and other concoctions while you wait. I was especially fond of the ginger-honey drink. I only had to wait about 10 min before a table cleared. If you have a large group it will be harder. And they are only open for lunch until 3:00 pm, so get there early.

It's no wonder this place is the top rated in a town with so much choices to eat at. We came in for an early light lunch before we were headed out of town and this place is absolutely perfect. Located right in Palermo it is easy to find and get to. We went in early so we had no wait. We got the small portion and it was a perfect amount of food, served quickly and delicious. They have a rotating menu so it's easy to keep on coming back and not be repetitive.

The place is cozy and nice, not fancy. Few options on the menu but always well seasoned food. All vegetarian.
