The Avenida is an incredible road between a line of hotels and apartments and the superb Copacabana beach. It is very busy so needs respect, but has a great cycle facility(2-way) and fantastic promenade which runs for miles and includes an array of bars and pizzerias.
This is a must- plan an hour or so just to stroll up and down or sit in a bar to watch the Carioca ( citizens of Rio) going past.

Thank Alan H

A great seaside promenade, lined along the beach with small bars that sell drinks at reasonable prices. On the other side, many restaurants, and some are pretty good.

Beautiful avenue with the Atlantic Ocean and the beach of Copacabana on one side and luxurious hotels on the other side.
To me, it felt like walking along the beaches of Cannes or Nice in the French Rivera.

Strolling down this road as soon as you get to Rio feels like stepping inside a movie.

Our hotel was very close by and we felt safe at all times.

The avenida is closed for vehicular traffic in one direction on Sundays. Very popular for walking, jogging and cycling.

The locals are quite big on early morning exercising on the beach too.

This is at the center of Copa cabana Beach. We went out at midnight and came back at 2am to our hostel which was 1km away from beach. A perfect view. We took two connecting flights from India and reach this place after 24 hour journey. As soon as we put our steps on this beach we forget the tiredness of journey. Beach is clean and safe as well.
