We stayed at the Mecure Rio Copacabana (formerly Tulip Inn Copacabana) for 5 nights during Carnaval in a Deluxe Ocean front room (812). Perfectly situated across the road from Copacabana beach the hotel provides a perfect and safe base to explore Rio. If you need to take taxis there are plenty available near and in front of hotel - will not need to wait long. Check in was seamless and efficient. The room was very large with 2 double beds which provided an excellent nights sleep. The room had excellent views of the beach. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast offered a great variety of fruit, cakes, cheese, cold cuts. We preferred to sit out on the porch to have breakfast and take in the morning vibe. The hotel also provides towels and an umbrella to take to the beach. WIFI connection was good - no problems. On Saturday they had a seafood feiojada which was really delicious for lunch. There are many restaurants nearby. Would definitely stay here again next time I am in Rio.

Room Tip: Make sure you get one of the deluxe ocean facing rooms

The location is right across the street from the beach in the middle of Copacabana. The staff upgraded my room with a great view of the beach, so I could enjoy the last two nights in Brazil!! Mirana at the front spoke perfect English and was so helpful!!

Rooms are small no coffee facilities or fridge and a tiny balcony. The hotel is situated right across the road from the beach and plenty of restaurants located nearby. Staff were friendly. Good selection for breakfast.

We’ve had an ok stay at Mercure Rio, great due to its location in the middle strip of Copacabana beach. This hotel Tulip Inn was recently acquired by Mercure so there are parts are new, but anything above ground floor (floors, rooms and facilities) are old and do require a good touch up. Staff needs to be more friendly and casual, some are really uptight and pretentious. Breakfast options and location were great, otherwise overall it was good not great.
