It's not easy to get there, since you will find several mall escalators on the way...
But it definitely worth the effort!
A terrific view from Botafogo bay, with Sugar Loaf Mountain in front of you can grant a very relaxing experience, while you try a good and affordable food.

Granted, you do have to make your way up, up, up through the mall, escalator after escalator, wending your way through crowds...but the journey is worth it. With every seat having a view out over the bay at Botafogo and out to Sugar Loaf Mountain, you may be tempted to forget the food. However, the friendliness of the staff, the helpfulness of the restaurant manager [they have menus in English] and the tasty food itself bring you home to the relaxed dining experience of Brazil. Try the delectable empanada-like appetizers with cheese and shrimp. Then go on to a meal of fish stew cooked and served in an iron pot and indulge yourself with savory flavors, vegetable and local fish served over rice with manioc flour. It is truly a way to immerse yourself in the flavors of this Marvelous City. If you left yourself any room for dessert, you must try the Romeo and Juliet - a delightful concoction of a custard-y ice cream swimming in a guava sauce. Yes, you will have to nap after this, but oh so worth it.

We ate there are first night in Rio when we were still getting oriented and before we realized that there were many restaurants in shopping centers- typically not our thing. The salad was excellent- and it turned out that good fresh and unusual greens are easy to come by in Rio. The fish was way overcooked. The menu was uninspiring. An adequate place but I would not go out of my way for it.

I don't know any chique restaurant in Rio with such a wonderful view. At Emporium Pax, you can enjoy a relaxing bistro atmosphere, the safety and convenience and of a shopping mall, very good food, a great view of the Sugar Loaf... paying reasonable prices.
I'd suggest two dishes: the "atum de outono" - tuna sealed with sesame, with mascarpone risoto - and the "ventos do Nordeste" (winds of Northeast: sundried beef with delicious sweet sugarcane syrup (melado) and rosti manioc).
You can also try the self-service buffet, many people do. The sweet desert pies are great! It's also a good tip for a coffee break.
