I liked the hotel, I would stay again. The service is friendly, the rooms are clean, although the bed was noisy and the air conditioner old, the tv was flat and new, cable tv, wireless for free, decent, not spectacular breakfast. The location is very good, in the richer part of Niterói, I felt always safe walking around at all times of day. The bus lines are close, and there is a convenient sort of restaurant in front of the hotel, with crepes, sandwiches, salads, ice creams and açaí.

When the hotel is not good, sometimes the staff can make a diference. It is not the case. A have never seen a staff so rude. The recepcionists, Aldo and Antonio, treat you like you are not paying for you stay. They make you feel like you are not welcome. When you meet the manager Sheila you understand why the recepcionists are so bad, she is worse. The rooms are not very good, the bed is not queen size nor king size, it is dwarf size or hobbit size. I not recommend it at all.

This hotel is mentioned in a very well known brazilian travel guide as a good cost/bennefit option. You will find it on a narrow dead end street right in the center of Icarai, one of the best spots to stay in central Niterói. Lots of nice shops, restaurants, ... everything at a walking distance. Including the beach, which, although not proper for bathing, offers a wonderfull view of Rio de Janeiro. Location OK(if you are not claustrofobic), but the rooms... As we are a family of four, we had to take two rooms. The (not) nice recepcionist gave us rooms on the ground floor. Huge mistake. We must make experience become a wonderful thing, not because it enables us to recognize a mistake when we make it again... The rooms were next to each other and, as we had to leave for a party right away, we were happy to have two bathroms to get ready. By the time we got back we realized how tinny the rooms were, and, as usual, not quite as nice as on the pictures shown on the hotel website. The windows not soud proof at all. As the rooms were right above the garage, we could hear people manouverig their cars all night, not to mention the vallet guy shouting directions. Very helpfull... Door not soud proof either. We could also hear people talking at the reception all night long (the next morning I was told that they had some problems with water supply, or something like it, and that was the reason for that much talking...) . To top all that, very early in the morning we figured that the service entrance door was opposite to our rooms. I guess no need to say more. Well, as for breakfast, although very simple, served in an interesting room: the hotel is built on the footsteps of a rock, and a part of the rock serves as a wall at the breakfast room. Nice. I could mention that it showed a bit of mould... The next morning I found out that the receptionist, this time a nice and simpathetic guy, was already aware of the problems I mentioned and all he could do was ask me to fill in request/comments notes. I did so. And told him I would tell everyone what a lousy hotel it was. At least for us. There you go. Nevertheless, don´t miss Niterói. Great out of town beaches, beautiful sights, safe and from there you see Rio de Janeiro!!!
