Ilheus is not a big city but has many cultural and historic places to visit. The cathedral is one of them. Centrally located at the historic downtown.

This church is nice and beautiful, but it was closed when I went there, so I only saw it from outside.
It is located close do the historical part of Ilheus and is located close to the beach.

The cathedral could really use some renovation. It looks TERRIBLE on the outside.

When that is said it is beautiful inside and worth a visit if you are there anyway.

It is starting to detiorate externally. Inside it is like many another cathedral, If you are wandering arount the historical centre of Ilheus, it is worth 10 minutes, but not much more.

It is always nice to come into the cathedrals when in a hot country. There is an interesting story about how the colonel, after a visit went down to the restaurant, and by a secret door could come to the Brazilian version of "Moulin Rouge" on the other side.
